Season Color

  • Hey guys, they just released the offical box art for the season 5 DVD set. I think we should use that color for season 5. It's a cool neon green color. What does everyone think?--Nintendo_Warrior 23:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I agree, but I think it's more white than green. There's green, but it's extremely light.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  23:29, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
  • I'd call it teal. Any ideas for HTML colours to use, now that we have the official S5 colour? --Blueeagleislander 07:50, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
  • Are we referring to the one on DarkUFO? The flash one? I didn't think it was official yet, since he states "These are not officially confirmed." Has the boxart been confirmed by Disney or whoever produces the DVD?--Baker1000 23:20, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
    • It's on TVShowsOnDVD.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  23:29, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
      • It states in the second paragraph "Now Amazon's listing for the standard DVD release has been updated with first look at possible cover art for the 5-disc set." And in the third paragraph "Keep in mind that this is coming from Amazon, not directly from the studio, so we're not certain that this is the finalized package art for that release." While I do think this is the cover art, I'm just pointing out that it's not official yet. It could change slightly before release.--Baker1000 23:53, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
  • I changed it. If we come up with a different colour, we can always change it again.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  03:36, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
  • This new color really hurts the eyes! I've noticed that the other colors are like a shade rather than a bold kind of color. The shades don't hurt the eyes that much, plus it would fit in with the other season pages, obviously. Maybe use like a shaded Green-Yellow? I also wouldn't mind putting the red color back up. - Shortguy457 - May 07, 2008, 12:39AM

I was just browsing Amazon.com and they have the Season 5 DVD boxart here. Comparing it to the picture of the boxart we have, it's not as bright and is actually a shade of blue instead of the green we were lead to believe. Should we change the season colour to a light blue, or keep it as the green for now?--Baker1000 19:47, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

I think maybe leave it until we know for sure that that will be the boxart. Once we know, the we should change it. (On the other hand, if Amazon is official, then we should change it now.)  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  19:53, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

  • Dont ya think its pointless to have a page that isnt going to have any major developments for the next couple years just sitting around? I think season 5/6 should be deleted, or at least made into a sort of "Future Lost Programming" page. DeGroot 18:51, 18 May 2007 (PDT)

Update needed

It's now confirmed that Season 5 will contain 17 episodes --Hunter61 03:40, 10 May 2008 (PDT)

However, Damon and Carlton recently said that this was their intention, but was still far from being considered a signed deal. Source, possible spoilers behind link!--Nevermore 11:26, 17 May 2008 (PDT)
  • It has also been confirmed that season 6 will have 17 episodes too--Niconstant 22:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

CC and Damon said...

Ok, in some podcast (may 7? may 8? can't remember) Carlton and Damon stated that season 5 will deal a lot more with DHARMA. ¿Is that enough to mention it in a quick sentence in the article?. Semi-off-topic, I like how each season deals with a different entity: 1) Losties 2) Tailies 3) Others 4) Freighties 5) DHARMA (supposedly)--Ainulindale 12:27, 1 June 2008 (PDT)

I think that the losties on the island go back in time to the Dharma days and that is where the Dharma Booth Video takes place and Pierre Chang gets all of his knowledge from the future. That is what I think the TPTB were talking about season 5 being more about Dharma.--CharlieReyes23 10:09, 7 December 2008 (PST)

If the people on this wiki read Dark's spoilers, their heads would frickin explode from all the strange and crazy things that are going to be coming in Season 5. --The Cartographer 11:27, 7 December 2008 (PST)

Confirmed cast

Is it yet appropriate to discussed confirmed returning cast? I think it's obvious that Matthew Fox, Evangeline Lilly, Michael Emerson, Jorge Garcia, Naveen Andrews, Yunjin Kim and Terry O'Quinn will at the very least be back for 1 episode each :) Plus the news media has reported a few times that Emilie de Ravin is skipping a year, only guesting in S5 and coming back fulltime in S6. I don't want to know if Daniel Dae Kim is coming back or not yet because that would spoil me since his was the fate left in doubt (spoilers bad!), but what about any of the other characters? --Jeff 16:44, 9 June 2008 (PDT)

According to a few interviews with Harold Perrineau (Michael) it looks like his character is good and dead and will not be returning next season.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  21:26, 9 June 2008 (PDT)

Yeah I saw a few interviews with him, he seemed angrier this time than last timee ... I doubt we'll even get a gues shot from him in S5 now. Poor Walt, haha Now that the O6's stories seem to be taking place in 2007, maybe we'll see an appropriately aged MDK back full time? After all Ben did say they ALL have to go back, right? --Jeff 18:38, 10 June 2008 (PDT)
That's my hope/thought, but I'll wait until seeing official confirmation about it.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  18:43, 10 June 2008 (PDT)

Hello I'm back after a few months of Lost withdrawl! If nobody else minds, I was considering keeping track of the cast and recurring guest appearance count on this talk page again this season, just like I did in Seasons 3 and 4. • Are you going to put this up on the main Season 5 page soon?
During Seasons three and four the list didn't get moved until the finale aired, and I think it was moved by an admin once the season ended. I had assumed it was going to be done the same way this year. --Jeff 15:44, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
Can we not have it put up on the main page before? At least then an admin is the only person who can edit it, whereas if it stays on here it's subject to anyone changing it how they see fit...
  • Should Jin be credited for appearing in footage already used? BETTYFIZZW (Talk) 20:01, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
    • Yes ... because he was credited.... and appeared. Name on the screen as main cast, and Darlton confirmed he's still a regular. Not the first time Lost has shown the same scene in consecutive episodes (think the hatch stuff for 3 episodes straightin Season 2), nor is it the first time that a main character only appeared in flashback. --Jeff 21:14, 22 January 2009 (UTC)
  • When ths front page going to be unlocked, so details can be updated on episodes and the appearences list.
    • Front page is usually unlocked the day after the finale airs; at least that's what happened on this site in S3 and 4. --Jeff 15:16, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

January?

The page lists Season 5 as begining in February, but I'm sure I heard that it was starting in late January. I don't remember where I heard this, but I think it was even before they added the 17th hour to the 5th series.--JDMCMAMC 06:14, 11 June 2008 (PDT)

S5E01 (SPOILER REMOVED)

The Season 5 premiere episode title has been revealed by EW's Doc Jensen. {SPOILER REMOVED) --Jonathan_Fakenham 12 Aug 2008

  • I thought last season we agreed that episode titles weren't spoilers because they are so vague that they don't give anything away. (Like "The Constant" doesn't tell us what a constant is, "Meet Kevin Johnson" doesn't tell us who Kevin is, or "The Brig" doesn't tell us which brig or what happens there). Also, the name of Season 5 episode 1 is already listed elsewhere on this site so I think it's moot. --Jeff 21:07, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Does anybody know the general time that promo photos will be released for season 5? I don't remember when they came out last year. -- LostCloverfield42  Talk  15:06, 19 August 2008 (PDT)

They have already been released on various websites. I think they have been taken by local bypassers. --TRUETECH 16:50, 14 September 2008 (PDT)

Should we start a page on them, or would this qualify as a "spoiler" because of the promo clip?--Nevermore 02:50, 21 November 2008 (PST)

Already a page, written by two sysops. I originally locked the company name's article, but in hindsight another sysop suggested removal and I agreed. It doesn't count as a spoiler, as its been released as part of promotional material and all we know is the company name, their website, the slogan and the launch date etc. It doesn't immediately spoil anything about Season 5 and 6 (like a character name or bio would, or a scene directly taken from Season 5)like some of the other content in the promotional clip. Page for Ajira Airways is already there. -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  06:38, 21 November 2008 (PST)

No Jin

Not on the poster = not in the cast. For now. --Pyramidhead 18:26, 22 November 2008 (PST)

  • He could have been demoted to recurring cast member. Rose and Bernard are still alive and part of the show, but not on any poster cover. Jin could be back-burnering it until Sun returns to the island. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Writerstix (talkcontribs) 04:00, 9 December 2008.
  • Not necessarily. Maybe it was just to keep the mystery up. --Blueeagleislander 20:45, 8 December 2008 (PST)
  • We don't even know if Jin is alive. If he is, then he probably wouldn't be on the poster to keep the mystery up probably. --TheEyeland 01:48, 14 December 2008 (PST)
  • With no promotional pictures (check out any current character, click on their picture, and then get to the Category of Season 5 Pictures) of Jin, I think he will not be coming back, unfortunately. Sorry. LOST-David 02:22, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Claire isn't on the poster along with Jin. However unlike Jin whose whereabouts was unknown at the end of series 4. Claire was in Jacobs cabin. Why is she not on the poster??????? Its really frustrating

  • She's not on the poster because she not in the main cast for S5. The producers said like 6 months ago that de Ravin has a holding contract during this period. She may make some cameos in S5 though as per what the Producers said.
  • aaron is not on the poster as well--Niconstant 22:25, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
  • The reason Aaron, Rose and Bernard are not on the poster is because they are not played by actors credited on the show as main cast. Rebecca Mader (who IS on the poster) may be listed by ABC-issued press releases as recurring, but that may just be due to legal mumbo-jumbo in her contract; the producers list her with the main cast and treat her as such, IE placement in the credits, promo shots, etc. And as for Daniel Dae Kim, I agree with Eyeland, if Jin is alive they are probably purposely holding back promo shots so as not to spoil it. You may recall that there were three versions of the Season 2 poster: One with just the Season 1 cast, one with Ana-Lucia, Mr. Eko and Libby added, and one with Shannon, Ana-Lucia and Libby deleted at the end of the season. The same thing happened with the Season 3 art, when they re-released it with Eko replaced by Juliet, Paulo and Nikki. If Jin is still alive, it's possible he will be added to the poster later in the season or on the DVD box; if Jin's dead, it'll likely stay as it is. --Jeff 21:21, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Seventeen

  • The article currently cites a planned 17 episodes, yet there is no source, and I am having trouble finding one. I did find a recent source citing seventeen HOURS, which may mean 16 episodes if a 2-hour finale is considered. There is also some confusion on whether the premiere will be 2 hours of new episode or 1 hour recap + 1 hour new episode. Could someone clarify this with some solid references? Paste the URLs here. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk  12:07, 10 December 2008 (PST)
In regards to the second point, it's three hours. See an entry from DarkUFO. --Blueeagleislander 15:45, 10 December 2008 (PST)
I don't have any articles handy right now (I'm at work, shhh!), but I recall reading numerous media reports over the last 6 or so months that because of the '07 strike, 2 of the promised 48 hours of lost would get pushed into subsequent years, making 17 hours each in S5 and S6. Whether that means 17 1-hour episodes or 15 1-hours and 1 2-hour, or any other combination is something that DARLTON and ABC work out together. --Jeff 21:30, 7 January 2009 (UTC)

Charlotte

Charlotte is on the poster, but Wikipedia says she will be a guest star rather than a regular in Season Five. Why? - Tristan0709 18:48, 12 December 2008 (PST)

Claire wasn't billed as a regular in Season 1 until "Homecoming", after her kidnapping. Yet she was still in the promo poster. My best guess is Charlotte isn't present for a few episodes during Season 5.--Baker1000 19:08, 12 December 2008 (PST)

Wikipedia doesn't have it sourced, so I wouldn't put too much faith in it until they cite something for it.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  19:28, 12 December 2008 (PST)

The part I read says ABC haven't listed her as a cast member, and it gives this source [3].--Baker1000 19:47, 12 December 2008 (PST)
I don't trust ABC-issued press releases, they've been wrong before. It could just be, as I said in another post, due to some legal clause in her contract that keeps the network from calling her REGULAR as opposed to RECURRING. As it is, the Lost producers consider her main cast -- they credit her as such and release official promo art of both the character and actress. I wouldn't read too deeply into minor technicalities as where she's listed on the press release. If the show itself and the producers lists her as main cast, that's good enough for me. --Jeff 21:26, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
This website deems Nikki and Paulo to be main characters during season three, and the same for Daniel, Charlotte and Miles in series four because they were billed as such on the actual programme despite being 'recurring roles' on ABC'S media press releases. This is just to same. --Jamie-0408 21:41, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Episode 3 Press Release

ABC sent out a press release today for Episode 3 "Jughead". Can it bee added to the episode list? --LOST-The Cartographer 21:22, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

The spoiler policy states we don't add episode titles unless they are the next to be aired. We wouldn't have the episode 2 title up if it weren't for it airing on the same night. See LP:SP#Immediately upcoming episode names.--Baker1000 23:29, 12 January 2009 (UTC)
  • Well it looks like it was added anyway. They might also want to add today's press released episode 4, "The Little Prince". --LOST-The Cartographer 21:36, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

Season Five Finale

Just thought it was worth a mention that epsidoe 5.17, the season finale of season five, will be Lost's 100th episode. As per most television programmes, they usually do something special for episode 100 and I think Lost will do the same. So will that lead to an awseome 100th-episode-season-finale cliffhanger? A new game-changer? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jamie-0408 (talkcontribs) 21:44, 17 January 2009.

  • Well it will be the last cliffhangering season finale ever so they have to make it good.--Rbfskywalker 22:30, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
  • But technically episode 14 is the 100th hour of Lost, so I think its episode 14 not 17 is the 100th.
  • Not that it matters, but the finale is actually the 99th episode, assuming we're getting 17 episodes and not 17 hours, in which case it would be the 98th.--HaloOfTheSun 02:50, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

Alpert's test on young Locke

I am not experienced enough to edit the main page so I will say it here. In the episode when Alpert visits a young John Locke and quizzes him on which items are his the compass he gives Locke in this newest episode is one of the items. When a young Locke picks it, Alpert quickly ends the test and leaves because Locke had gotten the answer wrong. I hope someone can organize this correctly.

Alpert actually leaves when Locke picks the knife. But other than that, spot on.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  07:59, 22 January 2009 (UTC)

Series Navigation

I'm not sure of where to put this - but thought someone might notice it here. The navigation section right at the top of all episode pages doesn't properly link to series 5. It works fine from series 4, but if you are looking at a series 1 episode (or any series except 4) then you have to go to series 4 and then series 5. I hope that this makes some sort of sense. I had a look to see if it was something that I could change myself but found that it isn't a normal part of the page. Ianrob1201 13:56, 24 January 2009 (UTC)

Page still in pre-airing state

"Because You Left" and "The Lie" have aired, but the current season 5 article is still in a state where the entire season is considered "upcoming". And because of its protected state, it's not possible for someone without an admin status to do something about that.--Nevermore 17:22, 25 January 2009 (UTC)

Better get used to this kind of thing. --Pyramidhead 09:33, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

Who chooses the episode colours?

Just read what I posted in this link:

[4] --TheEyeland 13:10, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

I believe the colours are chosen based on the colour of the DVD boxsets. S1 is silver, so we have a very light blue on LP, S2 is gold, so we have a brownish/orange colour on LP, S3 is green, so we have a light green on LP, S4 is blue, so we have a darker blue on LP. Since we have nothing to base Season 5 on, red is the only colour we don't use yet. I might be wrong though.--Baker1000 13:17, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

So far, each DVD boxset has followed the colour scheme for the promotional material released leading up to the new season, which is again a dark blue. So my suggestion would be a purple-ish hue to distinguish it from season 4.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  18:03, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm experimenting with various shades of red, but we try to use whatever the DVD colour is. --Blueeagleislander 06:45, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Date of "present scenes"

I figured I'd bring this up on the main season talk page as opposed to the individual episode pages so we can figure out a standard. The articles for Because You Left, The Lie and Jughead and refer to the "present tense" scenes of Ben and the Oceanic 6 taking place in 2008. However I was under the impression that they were taking place in mid-to-late 2007. I'm basing this on the date on the newspaper with the Jeremy Bentham obituary (there's a screen shot somewhere, maybe someone can help me out) and the fact that it's now for the O6 only like two or three days after Jack visits the funeral home, as seen in the sseaon 3 and 4 finales. I know for our folk left on the island, it's 2005 now (um, technically) and I know 2005 plus 3 is 2008, but it's only 2 days into 2005 for the survivors so the three years is kind of a rounding off number if you go by the Bentham obit. I wouldn't change three articles without input from the rest of the community and without absolutely being sure it was really 2007 and not 2008 in the O6 scenes so ...thoughts? Especially from mods or someone who has access to the screen shot of the Bentham obit (or maybe an interview from Darlton referencing this, because I thought I've heard them reference '07 at least once) Regards, --Jeff 05:33, 29 January 2009 (UTC)

Flashbacks?

Since there is a bit of awkwardness in having the episode summaries' centricities determined with the field "Flashbacks", is there a way to make a new template for season 5 episodes, the way we did with Season 4's flashforwards? I propose having the field just say "Flash:", or perhaps "Centricity:". Because what seems to determine centricities is the present day period, off-Island scenes, and that's definitely not flashback. Michael Lucero * Talk * Contributions

There is a flashforward template available, but perhaps replacing it with "Centric" would be better. --Blueeagleislander 08:31, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
  • I changed 316 and LaFleur to Flashbacks. Right now (as of 5x07 and 5x08) there are 2 "present" timelines on the show. 1977 (Sawyer, Jack) and 2008 (Locke, Caesar). The events that lead Jack to the Island (getting to Aijira, etc) are prior to Jack being on the Island, which is the "present" now. Therefor, it's a flashback. The same goes for The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham. The "present" is on the Island, with Caesar, and the event that lead them to the Island (Tunisia, Abbadon, suicide" are flashbacks. The "present" on LaFleur is the same time when Jack arrives, 3 years after getting into Dharma. Sawyer joining Dharma is the flashback, and 3 years later (Amy giving birth, Jack arriving) is the "present". It's a flashback.--Samus88 17:03, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

I changed it back again. There are three (subjective) "present" timelines on the Show. Jack/Kate/Hurley's present is 1977, Locke et al. are in their "present" of 2008, and Sawyer/Jin/et al. have their present (at least in this episode) as 1974, because that's where their story picks up from the last time they were seen. Depending on how the next episode is done, it may be that their present now matches up with Jack/Kate/Hurley, but for at least this episode the flashes are the ones which take place three years later.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  18:10, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

I think we shouldn't stick to the old Flashback and Flashforward format for Season 5 since when "present" is defined as is rather subjective. Centricity would be better? Lawliet89 14:56, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Nevermind, I got it.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  07:08, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Copied from Talk:316: Think of Lost as having one, main, continuous plot line. It starts with Oceanic 815 crashing, through the discovery of the caves, Boone's death, opening the hatch, the Tailies, blowing up the hatch, Jack/Kate/Sawyer being captured, escaping, the Others' raid on the beach, the freighter, the mercenaries, the Orcid. All of this is the "present" timeline. Then, when Ben turns the wheel, the present timeline splits into two timelines: On-Island and Off-Island. However both of these timelines are still following the same continuous plot line, just for two series of characters. So we get:

  • Plot line A) Ben turns the wheel, the Island starts moving through time, Charlotte dies, Locke teleports off the Island; and
  • Plot line B) Ben turns the wheel, the Oceanic 6 see the Island disappear, crash, get rescued, return to the real world, decide they need to go back, board Ajira 316 and reawaken on the Island.

These two are also, "present" plot lines. (Note: It now looks like A) and B) have merged into a single plot line, which is good because it'll be less confusing hereafter.) Anyways, my point is this: Anything that takes place outside of this present plot line is either a flashback or a flashforward. If it takes place before the current position in the plot, then it's a flashback. If it takes place after the current position in the plot, it's a flashforward. The opening of "316" takes place after the current place in the plot, and thus is a flashforward.  Jimbo the Tubby  talk  contributions  05:58, 23 February 2009 (UTC)

What I want to know is if ABC has released/has hever released a document that outlines when each episode will air, as in "Ep 5.13 will air on x date, Story of the O6 on y date, 5.14 on z date...etc" ? --  SacValleyDweller    talk    contribs   06:30, 8 April 2009 (UTC)

SPOILER REMOVED

Producers already declared that season's 5 finale two hour episode will be named (SPOILER REMOVED) and that for broadcasting reasons they will divide it in two oficial episodes that will air one after the other the same night. So the episodes 16 and 17 should be (SPOILER REMOVED), Part 1" and "(SPOILER REMOVED), Part 2" respectively. Is there a problem typing this on the main episode name table? Because I've seen people has undone it when someone made that change. --Luisman 23:16, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

Grainy and stretched

Season5 Miles SomeLikeItHoth

Clear

There have been two images put up for the box on "Some Like It Hoth". Since voting in the face of a conflict is the modus operandi here, I thought I'd leave this one up to the masses. The current one is a good image according to its content, but since it's a bit grainy and very stretched, I don't think it's appropriate for the Season 5 page. The other is not as good in terms of the image's content, but is a higher quality image and is relevant because it shows Miles next to a Dharma van. Votes? Mine is for the Clear one. Michael Lucero * Talk * Contributions

I agree with the clear one. The stretched pic looks very odd. --kristbg 14:50, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Clear: It was Miles-centric so it should just be him in the picture. He actually has his eyes closed in the stretched image. Not good.--Baker1000 16:47, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Anybody know where all the promo pics for "Dead Is Dead" and "Some Like It Hoth" are? They don't seem to have released very many, like for most episodes. I can't find them at the usual online resources. -- Graft   talk   contributions  00:03, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Weird, right? I was wondering why not many had shown up here. Out of curiosity, where are the usual online resources?  Robert K S   tell me  05:06, 22 April 2009 (UTC)
Lost-media is the big one, where I'm sure most of the promo pics (and some screencaps) come from on here. DarkUFO's forum also has an "Exclusive access" section where they usually show up. But zilch, nada for these two episodes. -- Graft   talk   contributions  05:30, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Flashes

Aren't The Lie, Jughead, and The Little Prince flashforwards? They take place AFTER the events shown on-island in their respective episodes, for the most part. -- Tristan0709 09:03, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

No, because they happen in the person's past... They put the discussion between Hurley and Miles in Jack's house into the Season just to explain this whole thing!! -- Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  11:32, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Main topics

As with the other Season pages, we should start writing the main topics covered by this season. I'm proposing around this:

"Follow the Leader" picture

Hey all,
I had a discussion with a fellow editor, who kept claiming that the picture that appears in the "Follow the Leader" infobox is from that episode, while it is actually from "The Incident, Part 1", thus, not fitting to be in that infobox. Here are the proofs that back up my opinion:

The user believes that that picture is from the ending of the episode, when Locke leads everyone to Jacob. Well, that scene is THIS one:

Normal leader-645

This is from "Follow the Leader"

The scene we see in THIS picture:

5x16 LeadingHisPeople

..is from "The Incident, Part 1". How do I know? Well, this screencap:

Theincident492

From "The Incident, Part 1"

.. is the equivalent of the promo picture he keeps arguing is from "Follow the Leader". Notice the same positions of Locke, Ben and Sun? Same environment, same spacing, same background Others, while in the screencap from 5x15 which I provided above, Sun, Richard and the same background Others are NOWHERE to be seen. Also, look at ABC's page of promotional photos:

Here -- they have photos, by mistake, from both episodes 5x15 and 5x16 in the 5x15 category. While they have pictures of Jack and Kate being attacked by Widmore, they also have pictures of Locke, Sun, Ben and the rest of the Others arriving at the beach camp, which is, as you must know, a scene from "The Incident, Part 1". So, what do you guys think?  ODK  Talk  Sandbox  02:30, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Every site has this photo [[5]] listed as a promotional shot for 5x15 not only that but [[6]] is more proof that users believe the image belongs with 5x15. We need to rember that promotional images are not screencaps and we often se shots of images we could not get screencaps of so here some proof [[7]] and if you need more proof go to Claires page and look at all the promotianl stills youl se abour half of them are images of which you could not get screencaps. -- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  06:09, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Pictogram voting support It just seems obvious to me ... ABCmedianet's website is notorious for its numerous mistakes. For example, if I remember correctly, there was a picture of Alex released for episode 3x14 ... Episode she didn't even appear in. --LeoChris 06:16, 31 May 2009 (UTC)
Just pointing something out -- I'm completely sorry if I seemed to imply that Czygan84 is wrong, or if I sounded arrogant. I truly believe that each side has its own reasons, which is what makes this wiki a pure democracy. :)  ODK  Talk  Sandbox  03:56, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Season 5 Centricity

Centricity for 5x01, 5x03, 5x04 all need to change look at these two pics
23andbeyondboard

Faraday/Desmond kate/sawyer centric

23andbeyondboard2

Jack/Locke centric

I dont know how much more correct you can get then the board up on the writers wall. I personally thought 5x01 to be daniel centric but jack/locke would make sense also would desmond/daniel for 5x03 and kate/sawyer for 5x04. I think we need to throw out everyones opinions on which episode is whose. That doesnt matter we need opinions on whether or not this is enough evidence to change the centricity of the episodes. I think it is and if we dont change it then this site becomes basically a joke that is 100% based on user opinion and not the what the writers intended. LETS GET THIS CHANGED.(credit to Baker1000) -- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  01:23, January 14, 2010 (UTC)

BEAUTIFUL! thank you! 515 is NOT Richard Centric! Finale isn't Jacob centric Neither! Finally some Proof! I am with him. Lets change it to this. You can't get any more proof, I am sorry. Great Job! Shortguy457 01:36, January 14, 2010 (UTC)

  • Pictogram reply Regarding 5x15 and the finale, nothing is written on the board. It is entirely possible that this footage was shot before centricites were assigned / simply written on the board. Ergo, I don't think we can assume Richard / Jacob is wrong. Though I personally believe the finale should be listed as various, that's not the point. Also ... are we even certain the board lists centrics as opposed to characters who are featured prominently in the episode? That's not the same thing. Plus, that would mean Sawyer had two centrics within a four episodes gap, in the same season ... If you ask me, this board is nothing more than interesting trivia unless we get a concrete explaination as to what it is supposed to be. --LeoChris 04:09, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
Agree on the finale and 5x15 but really I mean your really gonna argue the other episodes, your reaching. Your argument is ridiculous centric in early season 5 means characters who are featured prominently. These ARE the centrics. It has miles for 5x13 daniel for 5x14. There is no way you honestly believe that they are not the centrics seems like your arguing just to argue. And if it is SO wierd for sawyer to have 2 whole centric in a four episode gap then explain season 4 where jack had 4 centrics in a 5 episode gap-- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  04:27, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
I agree my argument's not the strongest ever made, but I actually had trouble expressing what I meant. It's like 1x13; It's Boone centric, but on a board such as this one, could it understandably be written as Boone/Shannon? I believe so, and I think this could be what happened here. (And what I meant by prominently featured characters) Does this make more sense? Also, just for the record, Jack didn't have 4 centrics in a 5 episode gap in season 4 ... his only centrics in season 4 were Something Nice Back Home and the Oceanic 6 centric finale. --LeoChris 04:47, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
Yes Jack did you agree: something nice back home 5x10, and the three part finale 5x12,5x13,5x14 all listed as jack centric and all in a 5 episode gap. -- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  04:56, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
I don't think the multipart finales are concidered as separate episodes for anything else other than episode counts. Until very recently, they weren't even listed as separate entities in characters' infoboxes. --LeoChris 05:07, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
Well thanks for the credit, but I didn't say we should change them all. I just said we should consider it (if I recall correctly). This is a list of centric characters, they told us that Hurley was the centric for 5x02, and it says here that he is. The point raised about "Hearts and Minds" is not relevant here. The centrics for Season 1 (and the first 4 seasons) where decided based upon who the flashback/forward focused on. In that particular episode, the flashbacks start with Boone in America and he goes to Australia to visit Shannon. Then it follows him as he bribes Bryan to break up with Shannon, and his complaint to the police. The flashbacks are shown from Boone's POV. Shannon is only present when Boone is in the scene, she has no scenes of her own in the flashbacks. This is why "House of the Rising Sun" is listed as Sun, and "...In Translation" is listed as Jin because the flashback scenes are shown from one characters POV. In "Special" Walt appears in a scene by himself, away from Michael, and vice versa, so we list it as both of them. The problem with early Season 5 is we had no flashbacks or forwards, only on/off island. The centrics listed on the board actually seem to have one character for on and off the Island with the exception of "The Lie" which is just Hurley. That makes sense because there isn't actually much on-island action going on in that episode, and it's really only the beach scenes followed by the brief appearances of Charles Widmore's group in the jungle. "The Little Prince" clearly focuses on Sawyer for the on-island segments, and his relationship with Kate. Likewise Kate's opening flashback to that episode has her mentioning that Sawyer is gone. I can see the argument for why "Follow the Leader" is not Richard (sort of, but we reached a consensus and I agree with it). But the fact that it is left blank on the board doesn't mean it contains no centric. They could have simply not filled it out yet. As for the finale, I cannot see how you think it is not Jacob centric. He is the constant in ALL flashbacks with the exception of Juliet's. The episode article does have the other characters listed under the flashbacks but Jacob is the character which all of those scenes focus on. Now as I said, I don't remember suggesting we should change it, but if everyone feels this is evidence enough then I would not be opposed to the change of those three episodes. Besides, we already had two of them half right to begin with.--Baker1000 21:25, January 14, 2010 (UTC)
I posted about this in the forum and I'm glad it's being discussed here. I do think season five had a totally different centricity system. I mean, Ben even says the title "Because You Left" in reference to Jack. The titles often correspond. I further think this would lead credence to assigning Sun and Jin the centricity in "This Place Is Death." The only reason anyone is arguing against this is because joint or multi-centrics have been given only to characters connected pre-island or are members of a group (tail section, Oceanic 6). Maybe we have to think outside the box for season five. I mean, "Pilot, Part 2" is technically Kate/Charlie-centric. Jack and Locke are the primarily relationship of the show, Kate and Sawyer were a couple, and Daniel and Desmond are connected through constants. There is a reason these centrics may have been chosen. I also agree that they hadn't written anything down past episode 15. Can anyone get better BluRay caps of these? Or just go watch them and report back? Also, can anyone make out what it says for "Namaste"? I swear I can read "Dharma" for that one. Anywho, I think if we have official word for centrics we should go with them, especially in the pre-"316" episodes where everyone is split up. I just hope the official Lost book or whatever they're planning lists centrics. Alexisfan07 January 16, 2010
We had a bit of a lengthy discussion here and I mention that "Namaste" could be Dharma, as well as possible reasons why. I have no idea how to screencap Blu-rays, but it is much clearer on there, and that's how I came to the conclusions that I did. 5x01 said Jack/Locke, 5x03 is Faraday/Desmond. 5x04 said Kate/someone else, but it's hard to make out with the light. It definitely began with an S, so Sawyer is the only logical choice.--Baker1000 20:50, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
Well, it could also be Sayid, but he was in, what, less than 5 minutes? I think we have to note this in the centric field, but we should keep the flashback one as is, and count the flashback one. So neither Jack or Locke would get BYL in their centric field, and Kate would get TLP listed but not Sawyer. You know, to keep it with the "obvious" choice and have less random pairings. However, I think we should note Jughead as Daniel centric, because unlike the others a lot of the story is focused on his backstory-unlike Sawyer in TLP, for instance, Daniel's past is a crucial part of the story and the equivalent to true flashbacks.--Golden Monkey 21:04, January 16, 2010 (UTC)
I disagree because if we make the changes, we make them all. What I thinks should be done is have these new changes marked as centrics and keep the flashbacks in a seperate tab. So for "Jughead," it would be listed as "Centric character(s): Daniel/Desmond," "Flashback: Desmond." Something to that effect. At the very least, we need to make notes of these in the trivia sections. Alexisfan07 January 16, 2010
Side note, I looked at how many of the 6 acts Jack and Locke in "Because You Left" and how many Kate and Sawyer were part of in "The Little Prince" and to my surprise, Locke was in 4/6 and Jack only in 2/6 of "Because You Left." Faraday was in all of them, so obviously screentime might not influence centricity. Kate was in all 6 acts of "The Little Prince" but Sawyer was only in 4. Both Desmond and Faraday were in all 6 acts of "Jughead." Alexisfan07 January 12, 2010
Putting my two cents in: With the exception of "Follow the Leader" I think we should keep everything we have now. Its been psychologically proven that when we deal with a question to answer, your first response has the better chance of being the correct answer. So if we thought 503 was first Desmond centric rather than Faraday, who came second, we should have Desmond. and this goes for all episodes. In 501, it definitely didn't feel like a Jack/Locke centric, more like a Faraday centric if anything. So i am happy with "Multi-Centric." The only thing I have a problem with are these "Flashes." The Flashes are totally irrelevant in Early Season 5. And we should just call them just that, Flashes. regardless if its Back or Forward.Shortguy457 01:59, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
  • Pictogram reply While I agree with what you're saying, out of curiosity, why shouldn't that theory apply to "Follow the Leader"? It seems Richard-centric was the first response as well. --LeoChris 02:14, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
  • Alright to Shortguy457 I think you may have the wordls WORST argument for starters this disscusion wasnt brought up so you could get your own personal agenda across. After reading your two arguments it seems like you just want follow the leader NOT to be richard centric. Thats not what this disscusion is about its about the episodes I brought up. To be honest your arguments are ridiculous and contradicting, you make up a rule but when it applies to something you dont agree with you ignore it. Your opinion cant be taken seriously if your gonna contradict yourself. The follow the leader centricity disscusion is on another pg so please stop trying to use this disscusion for it. -- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  03:11, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
  • Alright Czygan84. That was a little harsh. I didn't take it as an argument. I thought we were having a healthy conversation. But now you have turned into an argument. So now instead of talking about Centrics we are talking about this. I didn't make up a rule. There's no book; obviously. Giving this some thought, This whole conversation is useless because we can't see all the centrics. Shortguy457 03:46, January 18, 2010 (UTC)
You should just stop your making yourself look bad I mean look at you post above where you say what a great idea this was, so one second you support me because you want to get follow the leader changed now because no one agrees with you this convo is "useless" your just supporting my argument that your argument on this disscusion cant be taken seriously, like i said the disscusion about follow the leader centricity is elsewhere. -- B1G CZYGS  Talk  Contribs  05:29, January 18, 2010 (UTC)

Based on the format of the series, mainly showing flashbacks/flash-forwards of events prior to/after the main story arc of the series, 5x01, "Because You Left" should be Pierre, Oceanic 6, and Desmond centric, since since has a flashback shown for Pierre, although since Daniel is there, one could argue it is technically a flash-forward, and we see flash-forwards of the Oceanic 6 that occur after the flash-forwards shown in "There's No Place Like Home, Part 3", along with a brief flash-forward of Desmond at the end of the episode.--Killermike2178 22:19, April 12, 2012 (UTC)Killermike2178

There were no flash-forwards at the start of Season 5. All off-Island scenes following the Oceanic 6 are considered present day, even though they take place in 2007. Most of the episodes start off with a flashback off-Island, however. The Pierre/Daniel thing is tricky, but it was decided I believe that it was a Pierre flashback as it takes place from his POV, however this does not make the episode centric to him, much the same as "A Tale of Two Cities" wasn't Juliet-centric despite starting off with a flashback for her. I will remove any edits you have made to label any off-Island scenes as flash-forwards. If you wish the challenge the centricity of a specific episode please take it up on the episode talk pages (and some articles even ask that you do that before modifying), but be aware that it has been debated intensely in the past with the outcome being as it stands right now. Also, in regards to the "316" edit please don't add an explanation in the infobox as it is not neccessary. Again, if you wish to challenge listing the episode as a flashback as opposed to a flash-forward then start up a discussion on the talk page.--Baker1000 00:00, April 13, 2012 (UTC)
Of course. I try to make this Wikia more accurate with information based on what is presented on the show, and it gets removed due to power-tripping mods/admins who do it solely for the sake of their mod/admin politics. But hey, I guess I can't take it too personally. After all, you can't have lower level people outshining you. You've basically just verbally given me the finger, saying, "Hey, go post your thoughts in the talk section, and we'll just not listen to them, because we're higher up and and anything we say goes, and our opinions matter more than yours", completely missing the point of Jack's story on the show, about the dangers of being a control freak. Go figure...--Killermike2178 06:35, April 13, 2012 (UTC)Killermike2178

The Lie and The Little Prince were Hurley and Kate centric, since the episodes started off with an actual flashback from there POV's. But then again theres so many episodes were a character gets a POV and it doesn't count. Buffyfan123 07:43, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

We can't call those episodes' off-island action "flashbacks" or "flash forwards" with respect to on-island action. The on-island and off-island action form separate narrative threads. One takes place in 2007 and one doesn't, but from the point of view of the show's storyline, they effectively run concurrently. Each makes up a "current" story spread over several episodes. I can think of a number of points supporting this but none better than the off-island action having its own flashbacks, for Hurley, for Desmond, and for Kate. Those flashes clearly labeled the 2007 action as each episode's current thread, as opposed to a flash. --- Balk Of Fametalk 08:32, April 13, 2012 (UTC)

Killermike - yes I am an admin on this site. But I haven't done anything that I wouldn't have done a year ago before I was given those powers. Changing centricity like that is considered a major change to the site because it was discussed so much back when the episodes aired. We decided upon what currently stands, and any change to that requires discussion. That is the reason why I directed you to the talk pages and I did so politely. It has nothing to do with me being a "higher" member than you, it's just the way we like to run things here. It's funny you should say you are trying to make the Wikia more accurate, because that is all I do here.--Baker1000 12:55, April 13, 2012 (UTC)
