Reorganisation

Shouldn't each episode have its own page, rather than all sectioned together on one page? This page is INCREDIBLY long. There are several pages out there that have very detailed recaps of each episode too. Wouldn't it make more sense to move to one page per episode? --Plkrtn 17:34, 23 January 2006 (PST)

I was actually considering just this over the weekend. I think removing the text of the synopses on this page (and on the season 2 page) and putting them on the individual episode pages, and then leaving the core info as well (directors, writers, etc.) on this page would be good. I agree this page has become a monster. --Circeus 17:58, 23 January 2006 (PST)

Is it OK to use the ABC synopsys word for word as Jabrwocky7 apears to be doing? --Surveyor 15:38, 16 February 2006 (PST)

I guess we should credit ABC when we're taking their synopsis *feels a bit guilty* --Jambalaya 01:54, 17 February 2006 (PST)

Why can't we go ahead and reorganize? And shouldn't we create a Season 1 nav box, like the Season 2, one, at the same time?

I agree

I agree with both of you. The page has gotten huge and it actually makes it harder for the server to process requests for that page than several individual pages would. --Admin 00:09, 24 January 2006 (PST)

I'm in favor of this too - has anyone decided on timing? I've been going back and watching the earlier episodes to find more clues and refresh my memory about the dynamics between the characters, and have some notes I'd like to add to a more detailed version of each episode. Also have some suggestions for standard sub-sections for episode page template. --Joseph 00:38, 20 February 2006 (PST)

Protecting the page

I have protected the page so only SysOps can edit it while we look at restructuring.

Anyone remembering to work on this? Just a reminder...--Bremerton 13:13, 25 April 2006

Season 1 available for on-line download

I know that season 1 and 2 'Lost' episodes are available via iTunes in the USA, but in the UK iTunes does not have any TV shows available online and therefore there is no legal way to download TV shows yet.

But, currently in the UK, Channel 4 [1]is releasing all of season 1 for download on-line through its website. (The DVD boxset can be bought in shops for £60(full retail price), so these downloads will save the consumer approximately £38!)

Episodes 1x01 and 1x02 are free to view for two weeks only between April 27th to May 11th. The rest of the series is available for 99p per episode. Payment is via credit card. Each episode requires Windows Media Player 10 to play them.--deep 11:26, 27 April 2006 (PDT)

Needs a upgrade

This article needs an upgrade to meet the standard that Season 2 has set with hi-res photos and the lot. Is it still possible to find ABC's original synopsises(sic?) for this season by the way? --Jambalaya 08:19, 26 May 2006 (PDT)

I went through and made it like season 2, I deliberatly didn't search for pictures I just tried to make every episode get it's own page and added the writer and director to each episodes section. there's still work to be dont of the episode pages, I think GEoH mentioned all of the synopsis are copied, we might need to write our oun of find some uncopywrited ones. 2-hr Season Finale

23 "Exodus: Part 1" 24 "Exodus: Part 2" (2-hr Season Finale)

With this shouldnt it just be Exodus part 3 because thats what i have on my dvd even though it was shown on tv in a 2 hr episode

  • Because that was what it was called in the USA.--CaptainInsano 12:19, 18 September 2006 (PDT)
  • Yep thats the way it goes, it what it is like in the USA, it doesn't matter if every other country splits the final except the USA. But in my mind all hours should be split, I mean how come every other show does it like that, Lost isn't any differnt. Oh well.

Rewriting of Episodes (RE: Stubs)

I'm just going through stubbing a few of the episode synospsies(?) which need to be bulked out a bit. I'm also thinking we should seperate each episode's synopsis section into two smaller sub sections of "Realtime" and "Flashback". Any thoughts? -Chris[dt7] 08:23, 9 October 2006 (PDT)

Agree, also think we should Category:Rewrite them all as they NEED sorting out, seriously, they are our most shameful area --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:31, 9 October 2006 (PDT)
  • Agreed. The ep summaries articles are a disgrace for the most part. Either too short, or way too long (now that we have Spooky's transcripts).
Rewrite them ALL. Even assign them like we did the podcast transcripts. I'd say this is a great time to standardize how we do them: My suggestion is to have two sections in the summaries, one for ISLAND and one for FLASHBACK.... (In the case of s2e23-24, I guess that last section falls through the cracks into OTHER, neither flashback nor island). At any rate, it's up to the regular editors to help make the existing articles mature, and with the new competition, now is the time. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk 11:26, 9 October 2006 (PDT)
    • Ok, I've done a bit of spring cleaning on Pilot, Part 1. I've added a lot of images, approximately one per paragraph, and seperated the synopsis into Flashback and Realtime Events. I've also added a little bit more info at the top, a sort of mini-synopsis...and that's about it. Any comments? -Chris[dt7] 14:26, 9 October 2006 (PDT)
Please don't do this. I think the synopsis should be written in the order of the scenes of the episode. I agree that there should be a way to separate flashback from present day, but creating separate subsections isn't the way I'd recommend doing this. Check out how Three Minutes was done; tell me if you think we might be able to make something more similar to this work, especially because I really can't stand what you've done to The Glass Ballerina. XSG 11:59, 14 October 2006 (PDT)
Really looks good and is easier to navigate around. Job well done Chris. It should be done on every synopsis. --   Dee4leeds  talk  contribs  all  12:03, 14 October 2006 (PDT)
I have to agree with how Chris has done it. No-one can deny Lostpedia's episode summaries are an absolute disgrace right now, and a separated format works well. We don't want it how Three Minutes is I don't think as its too much, if I wanted that much I'd read the transcript. It should be a summary, and whilst I agree depth is good, not every utterance that could be of significance. Furthermore, I categorically hate having "FLASHBACK" in big letters on every other paragraph --Nickb123 (Talk) 13:10, 14 October 2006 (PDT)
Looks like I lost this battle. Have fun messing up the synopses. XSG 15:23, 14 October 2006 (PDT)
They're already messed up so... --Nickb123 (Talk) 15:44, 14 October 2006 (PDT)

Rename

  • What's the point of the 'Lost' at the beginning? Proposed rename to just Season 1. --SilvaStorm
  • Rename - I know we've had it this way a long time, but the word Lost really is redundant. As for precedence in the rest of the site, we are incosistent in Lostpedia, and sometimes omit the word Lost in article titles, such as Dreams and Visions (rather than "Dreams and Visions in Lost"), but include "Lost" it in other articles such as Songs featured in Lost or Automobiles featured in Lost. However I think the list articles use "Lost" in their titles for a different reason: to avoid using "List of ...." in the title for these more general articles. "Season X" is not so general, so this does not apply. Thus I agree with the change to "Season 1", since this is a Lost wiki, and we can think more broadly across other titles as well. -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk 16:14, 13 December 2006 (PST)

  • Decision Unanimous agreement here (including by me). "Lost" is implied by the fact that this is Lostpedia, we are obviously not discussing "The West Wing Season 1", and simplier titles are always better. I'll try and catch any broken redirects too, please correct if people see these around. --PandoraX 12:19, 21 December 2006 (PST)

Reverted fixes

I re-added all my fixes regarding capitalization/italics, general cleanup to the summary and footer. Maybe we could have a discussion why it was reverted? I was going to add a discussion topic on Talk:Season 2, but I guess that page is locked for some reason.

Maybe this is about the automated TOC versus the manual TOC? I prefer the normal TOC, because I can hit "hide" and it is stored in my preferences. I have other reasons why I prefer the normal TOC as well, but I'll wait to see if that is why the page was reverted. --Dagg 06:40, 14 January 2007 (PST)

  • See your talk page; I did the revert, and reasons are explained there. Also, the page was nice and neat with the old one, and I think it just looks... not right now. --   Lost Soul   talk  contribs  06:49, 14 January 2007 (PST)
  • Ok, I see from my talk page that this was strictly bacause of the TOC, and not due to the other changes I made. The manual vs. automated TOC is debatable, and there are advantages/disadvantages to both techniques (next section)...

TOC

These are my opinions for advantages/disadvantages for both techniques:--Dagg 07:26, 14 January 2007 (PST)

TechniqueAdvantagesDisadvantages
Automated
  • Standard for site, and other mediawiki sites (standard design, and recognizable)
  • It is obvious to users that the links point to places within article, and not to other pages
  • Users can show/hide, and is stored in preferences
  • TOC is shown at the very top, so users can immediately click to where they want to go.
  • Takes up a lot of room
Manual
  • Takes up less room than the standard TOC (when standard TOC is shown)
  • Non-standard
  • Not obvious where link will go (episode article, or episode summary?)

I think we'd have the best of both worlds if there was an option to show an automated two or three column TOC. What else do people think? --Dagg 07:26, 14 January 2007 (PST)

Episode count

I noticed some errors in that section and reorganized it. The characters that I've changed their number of appearances are: Jin, Charlie, Sun and Walt. I don't know if Walt appeared in Outlaws (16th episode). If he didn't appear then he appears in 20 episodes and not 21. Now I think that the order is correct but I'm not 100% sure. --IceJohnnyPV 11:22, 22 June 2007 (PDT)IceJohnnyPV

Vincent

Vincent is only listed as a recurring character in Season 1, there is no mention of him on the pages of Seasons 2 and 3. I think we should either remove him from Season 1, or add him to Seasons 2 and 3. Mentioning him only on the Season 1 page is incoherent Andris22 13:10, 2 March 2008 (PST)

He was only in a few scene's in season's 2 and 3 but makeing him a more of a minor character, but in season 1 there were several episodes were different characters involve themselves around Vincent for multiple reasons.-- SawBucks  Talk  Contribs  20:14, 6 December 2008 (PST)

Christian appeared in 4 or 5 episodes?

I thought he appeared in 5 but the article says 4. (Walkabout, White Rabbit, All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues, Outlaws & Do No Harm) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flight108 (talkcontribs) 03:10, 7 December 2008.

Claire's Episode Count? 17 right?

I have Claire's Episdoe count at 17, not 18, Can you someone tell me the other episode? This are the ones That shes NOT in: 106,107,109,111,112,113,& 117. Thats seven, you guys have her for 18, meaning she only missed 6, which one is she in?--Shortguy457

Missed Episodes Count

In the episodes list there are 24 episodes (this is right: Pilot part. I and Pilot part. II are to be considered two different episodes, while Exodus part. II is one single two-hour episode), but in the counting some actors\characters have 25\25... is this an error?

Season Summary

Whose doing the Season Summaries and how are you basing off the organization? Shouldn't this be more Episode Chronologically?Shortguy457 08:51, 29 August 2009 (UTC)Shortguy457

Kidnapping of Walt as a major plot point?

The article lists the "kidnapping of Walt by The Others and its consequences for Michael." a a major plot point. Shouldn't this be removed? It only happens in the last 5 minutes of the season, and Michael's actions happen in Season 2. Does anybody disagree? Andris22 12:00, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

I agree. The consequences for Michael aren't shown til the second season, and the kidnapping of Walt is a brief cliffhanger and not a arc this season. --Golden Monkey 14:40, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

John Terry

John Terry appeared in "White Rabbit", "All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues", "Outlaws" and "Do No Harm". According to the commentary for "Walkabout", it isn't John Terry in that episode. The listing here is for how many episodes John Terry himself was in, so I changed it to 4/25. --Golden Monkey 14:45, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Good catch. I've made a note in the section about the character appearance in "Walkabout". -- Graft   talk   contributions  20:32, May 9, 2010 (UTC)

Update Season 1 template

Someone needs to update it, so it includes 25 episodes in the episode template, like has been done to all 2-hour episodes of lost for other seasons. Buffyfan123 12:47, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

The axe

I know this is a crazy obsession, but I'm at the end of a Season 1 re-watch and have gotten interested about the axe. There doesn't seem to be an article about it. Where did it come from? Is it ever explained why there was a huge lumberjack axe on the plane? --Evan Prodromou 16:53, December 9, 2010 (UTC)
