Talk:Room 23 (mobisode)

Synopsis

Though the mobisode does not explicitly state it, I wrote the synopsis with the assumption that Walt is in the room and Michael is the father they are talking about. Though it seems obvious, there is room for disagreement and the alternative would be to change it to not directly mention Walt or Michael. I'll leave it up to whatever the consensus is. I think we can assume Walt and Michael. This not only has implications for the synopsis, but likely several other places in the wiki that could refer to the scene. -- Graft   talk   contributions  01:24, 11 December 2007 (PST)
I agree that it's fair to assume the reference is to Walt and Michael, but we should at least mention that neither was explicitly named. There could be a reason for that, and we ought not assume we know what it is. --Webbrg 11:27, 9 January 2008 (PST)

Timing

Assuming that they are talking about Walt and Michael, I think the episode has to take place on either day 47 or day 48. The comment about the father running around looking for him seems to correspond to Day 47. And by day 49, Ben and Juliet are at the Pearl with the plan to capture Michael already in motion. Maybe they didn't refer to the father physically running/going around looking for him, but meant it more generally, e.g. ofcourse a father will be looking for his son when he is kidnapped, he does not neccessarily have to rush into the jungle on his own for that. So then the scene may have happened earlier (day 45/46), while Michael and the rest where with the Taillies. And on Day 47, do we know for sure that the Others have spotted Michael running away from the Taillies? I mean, he wasn't separated from them for that long. --DJVok 02:02, 11 December 2007 (PST)
Yeah, she could have worded that in a more assuming way, I have to agree that's a possibility. But then again, to answer your question, yes, on day 47, Jin and Eko saw a group of Others walk by them when they where out looking for Michael. So it could be that some Others saw Michael in the jungle looking for Walt, and that news got back to Juliet. But as for the latest day the scene could be, don't we have to allow day 49 as a possibility? They could be at the Hydra compound in the morning, and then take the boat to the main Island to get to the Pearl, where they discuss the plan. -- Graft   talk   contributions  02:21, 11 December 2007 (PST)
Day 49 indeed seems the latest possibility (I don't recall that Paulo's visit to the Pearl was extremely early in the morning??). So that would confine the event somewhere between days 45 - 49? --DJVok 04:41, 11 December 2007 (PST)
According to Lostpedia's own Timeline, if Michael is indeed searching for Walt during the time of this mobisode, then it could only logically be Day 47 or Day 52. Day 47 is when Michael runs off from the Tailies with Eko and Jin after him and Day 52 is when he takes off from the Swan (locking Locke and Jack in the vault) to find Walt. --macosx 20:43, 12 December 2007 (PST)
The reason it can't be after day 49 is because that is when Ben and Juliet discussed using Michael to bring Jack, Kate, and Sawyer to them ("Exposé"). So at that point, they both understood that they were going to give Walt back to Michael, whereas in the mobisode, Ben had not come to that decision yet. The reason it doesn't have to be tied down to day 47 is that we can't presume that Juliet knew what Michael was doing 24/7 when she made the comment "his father is out there looking for him". It could be that they were assuming him to be out there looking for Walt (it would be a likely thing to assume). -- Graft   talk   contributions  21:47, 12 December 2007 (PST)

Why Juliet wants Walt to leave

In The Deal, Juliet stated that she would be glad when Walt leaves the Island. I guess the events in this scene might be a good reason for her wanting Walt to leave, e.g. an Episode Reference. Or is this something for the theories page? --DJVok 01:46, 11 December 2007 (PST)

Upstairs, Downstairs

Room 23 wasn't shown te be on a upper floor, before. Was it? --Hunter61 10:45, 11 December 2007 (PST)

No, they entered at what looked like "loading dock" level, slightly above ground. It's hard to tell from the filming location pics, but they might've come out to the other side of the building where the ground lowered, so that they were now higher above the ground. -- Graft   talk   contributions  03:23, 12 December 2007 (PST)
