Malkin
A grimalkin is an old female cat. Figuring the cat/witch connection, is this relevant enough for some kind of bullet in the article? I'd add it, but it isn't really a theory or a fact... --Carl
- In that case, I would say that right here in talk is the best place to mention it. Or create a trivia topic.--Tricksterson 08:09, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
- That's probably best kept on the talk page. It's a bit of a stretch that the writers were actually thinking about a cat when deciding on the name. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 08:16, 13 April 2006 (PDT)
Trivia section: Mal (Bad) + Kin (family) ???
Does anyone know for sure if this is what the writers intended.
Because, the name itself is Russian, I believe, and the words Mal and Kin are French and English respectively...
I'm not sure this bit of 'trivia' is any more accurate than saying Sawyer means to mutilate (as in I'm a "saw yer" leg off)
I think unless the writers specifically made the Malkin point themselves, it is a misleading and frankly incorrect piece of trivia...
