Rename Edit

Rename to Swan mural. --SilvaStorm

  • Disagree Name conventions with Wikis are always that simpler names are the best (so that when people link pages, they don't have to remember to link with "Swan" in front of the name. There is only one mural at this time, so there is no confusion with another mural. If there should be a second one at a later time, then we can rename it to Swan mural. --PandoraX 20:13, 19 November 2006 (PST)
  • Disagree Same as above. --   Dee4leeds  talk  contribs  all  07:19, 21 November 2006 (PST)
  • Disagree I agree with Pandora, no other Murals currently available means a chance for naming simplicity that is always encouraged-- 11:24, 24 November 2006 (PST)
  • Disagree - keep name. As they say, k i s s. The article body is where descriptive content belongs, not the title. Otherwise we'd have: Swan Station (Island, former HANSO facility), or Mr. Paik (Jin and Sun's flashbacks). -- Contrib¯ _Santa_ ¯  Talk 16:16, 29 November 2006 (PST)

Sun in the mural Edit

Did anyone notice that the number 108 in the middle of the sun could also be like the "face" of the sun? The "1" could be the mouth, the "0" the nose, and the "8" the eyes. In this case it would be a "fallen" sun, which in my opinion symbolizes the end of the world, or an incident of huge proportions. The red line that connects the sun to the group of people could mean that these people are responsible for this incident. This group of people could be the Others, who even though they are trying to save the world, maybe by their drastic methods could lead to its distruction. Or it could symbolize the outside world, and that is why they are in the corner. Desmond knew that the Dharma Initiative was assembled so that they can save the world.--Skyshadow 06:00, 26 February 2007 (PST)

  • I think the sun in the mural is represented by the light in the tunnel. The 108 could be the electromaganet force in the light. The moon in the mural could represent of the light going out when Desmond went down in the tunnel of light to change the Island. --Jessy3035 23:11, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

was the mural really painted by Desmond? Edit

This seems to be the only statement on the subject:

Jim Spencer: Which leads us to Desmond’s beautiful mural. [Mural close-ups shown] And it shows a lot of pain, a lot of angst. He lives on the shore, so he’s got fish. The mural on the wall was done by Jack Bender, instigated by me, because I thought, here’s somebody who (Desmond, that we know now), but what does that one single person do down here if he’s given to painting? We talked about muralizing the whole place. And then it sort of came to be that, that may be a bit extravagant. So, I asked Jack, who’s a prolific modern artist to have his hand at it.

The problem I have with this being proof is that the statement is by a designer talking about the original conception for placing the mural in the hatch. Dharmatel4 11:38, 7 April 2007 (PDT)
