Talk:Mr. Paik

From Lostpedia

which episode and where can the supposed Dharma symbol be seen? ArgentiumOutlaw 01:24, 28 March 2006 (PST)

What is the Dharma symbol? --skks 02:46, 28 March 2006 (PST)

...Based on what I think the person meant, the Dharma symbol is the octagonal shape that circumscribes a figure in the logo of each of the hatches. Like the Swan's logo that shows up on all their food.ArgentiumOutlaw 21:15, 28 March 2006 (PST)

I think Skks meant which Dharma symbol? --Jre 04:49, 12 April 2006 (PDT)

No, the article mentions 'The Dharma Symbol', and so far we've only got the Station Logos. We have no one symbol that's associated with DHARMA as a whole. It would be kinda funny that Mr. Paik had a station logo at his desk, he'd be associated with a specific station instead of Dharma. So I was just enquerying what is The Dharma symbol as to my knowledge there hasn't been one yet. --skks 05:02, 12 April 2006 (PDT)

My theory is that Mr. Paik is Alvar Hanso and founder of "The Hanso Foundation"--Rew 01:05, 15 April 2006 (PDT)

Mr Paik doing business with Lee´s father - wealthy fathers

In The Glass Ballerina we were told that Mr. Paik was having business deals with Jae Lee's father. This yet another example of wealthy fathers made me think if there should be a page for the connections and doings of the losties' fathers:

Peculiar fathers, they might have something to do with each other

Mr. Paik, Mr. Lee, Christian Shepherd, Anthony Cooper, Mr. Widmore, Adam Rutherford, Sam Austen (not biological)

Mr. Paik's Side Business

  • What sort of shady business dealings is Mr. Paik involved in that Sun pretends it doesn't happen and he uses Jin to rough people up? Korean Mafia? --Brian2 17:53, 26 April 2007 (PDT)

Theory policy

What is the reasoning/purpose behind these two "theories?" Are they just random theories? --Snarf 07:56, 13 October 2006 (PDT)

  • Not totally random: tensious relationships to strong fathers seems to play an important role in Lost. These wealthy men may have a connection (Paik and Lee were the first) with each other and Dharma. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 4toes (talkcontribs) .
  • Could also have sent them on the plane in order to get the Rolex Watch onto the island.
  • Has a glass eye on his left side.

D.O.C Translation

This was taken from yahoo7.com.au/lost after D.O.C aired in Australia:

There were some interesting background clues that emerged during the flashback. Jin sports a coat with Sun's father's company logo on it, Paik Heavy Industries, a company that should be familiar to anyone who followed last year's Lost Experience. When Sun goes to visit her father at work, she interrupts a conversation he was having with some employees. This conversation should have sent alarm bells ringing, as it was the only Korean spoken in the episode not subtitled. Translated, it reveals that Mr Paik is upset as they have not provided the forged shipping papers to The Hanso Foundation as promised, and that they must get them soon or that their friends will become very angry. Could this be linked to the Helgus Antonius, the container/hospital ship used by The Hanso Foundation?

Is this fact, seeing as I haven't seen anything like this on lostpedia, do we have a translated script of that conversation? Gojiita 03:12, 29 June 2007 (PDT)

Name Meaning

Interesting that 'Paik' (Hangul 백, Hanja 白) translates into English as 'White'. Plays into the whole Black/White mythology.
