Talk:Main character non-appearances

this information is already available in the Character appearances page. -- Plkrtn talk contribs email 03:13, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Although this is interesting stuff, it's redundant with the character appearances page, which accomplishes the exact same thing. -- Sam McPherson T C E 03:15, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
It accomplishes a different point than the character appearances page, which, frankly, is cluttered and unreadable. It it more focused than the character appearances page, focusing only on the main characters, and also directly states information that the character appearances page requires you to check over the entire thing to find (total credited episode counts versus appearances, etc). It doesn't hurt anyone or lessen the wiki in any way to have information organized in a different way for people who don't want to go through all the work to find this information (ie: going to Character Appearances and going through each season adding things up, etc). There's probably a way this information could be in incorporated into the Character appearances page. Perhaps a final column could be tagged onto the charts on the right side to add up the episode count they didn't appear in. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 03:31, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
The antipode of this information is already available on the Character appearances page. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 03:27, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Look again. The episode counts on this page only take into account appearances where an actor is credited as main cast. This information isn't available on Character appearances unless you're willing to do a whole bunch of extra math. It's not a matter of redundancy, it's a matter of the information being organized in a more readable and focused way, instead of having to wade through the clutter of that page to come up with the same information. So add some more columns. Total for the season (already there), Total for the season - did not appear, Running Total of appearances, Running total for did not appear. I think the page is redundant, and your information would be better used to improve the character appearances page. Jabberwock talk contribs email - 03:38, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
The character appearances page is already barely readable as it is. Adding even more columns to it would just cause even more confusion, especially to casual viewers. --LeoChris 04:30, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
It's interesting information, not available in such a clear and complete form anywhere else on the wiki. Page looks kind of unfinished right now, though. --LeoChris 04:30, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
Delete it. In the Character appearances article, it states:
As of the 101 episodes and 13 mobisodes that have aired:In this article it says:
- Matthew Fox as Jack Shephard = 94 episodes, 5 mobisodes
Jack Shephard
- Credited as main character from "Pilot, Part 1" to present. Appeared in 94/100 episodes. Did not appear in...
I don't see how the info here is any different, aside from taking up a lot of space by having links to every episode he wasn't in. This article doesn't even give the miss episode count; it would be one thing if it stated Jack wasn't in 7 episodes and 8 mobisodes, but it gives the same metrics in the same format as Character appearances.

- Except that it then goes on to list those episodes... Jimbo the Tubby talk contributions 22:13, 13 May 2009 (UTC)
- Can't you just refer/click on the episode numbers in the chart for the episodes they don't appear in? I guess I don't understand the value added in reading a list of episode names? I could see value added if there was a narrative/analysis of WHY the character was absent (e.g., was dead, was in coma, was on the frieghter)

I can actually conceive of a use for this page. It's handy to check to confirm a character non-appearance, when you're not sure. I'm inclined to keep. This is just an extra silly page, it's really not bothering anyone, and it represents valid information. Robert K S tell me 14:48, 15 May 2009 (UTC)
The character appearances page can be very hard to navigate and read sometimes. This page is handy as Robert said, and does represent good information. -- CTS Talk Contribs 01:20, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
Whats wrong with having both character appearance and this page I look at this as a sort of cheat sheet for non appearances. -- B1G CZYGS Talk Contribs 15:30, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Episode templates not showing up
Does anybody know why the episode templates aren't showing up at the bottom? I can't figure out why they won't display. Jimbo the Tubby talk contributions 19:48, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
- Too many templates being used on a single page, perhaps ? --LeoChris 23:28, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
