Rename[]

I suggest "Egyptian references" or "Egypt references". The "in Lost" just sounds a little redundant because this is, after all, Lostpedia. --- Balk Of Fametalk 13:33, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Time of Egyptian presence[]

While we don't know for sure when Egyptians were on the island (aside from it being prior to 1867), if we were to try to correlate it with events on the island and real world history I think it would be somewhere in the range of 100 BC to 400 AD. Since Jacob and Man in Black's biological mother and "adopted" mother were both speakers of Latin and wore Roman dress, we would assume it would be sometime after the rise of Roman culture and advent of Classical Latin. That would put it no earlier than about 100 BC. On the other hand, Egyptian Hieroglyphics had all but died out by 400 AD. So that 500 year period would be the time in history where both cultures existed simultaneously. I'm sure that an expert on ancient Egypt and Rome could narrow things down even more. While the nature of the island makes it possible for these people and cultures to overlap at almost any point, it is most reasonable to assume they would have arrived at times where their culture existed in the world outside the island. Considering the fact that Jacob created the monster by throwing the Man in Black inside the light hole, and that the drawnings in the sub-temple wall were really made by the Egyptians, I assume it is secure to say that the Egyptians came to the island after Jacob. Of course that if the monster existed before Jacob, by any reason, then my theory goes down, but I don't see any reason why Jacob would say he created the monster if he didn't.
