Incorrect information
Unlike what is suggested in section 3 (Rousseau's French), Mathias and Henrik DO NOT have an European Portuguese accent. In fact, their accent doesn't resemble any regional Portuguese accent at all! They are clearly international actors who learned to speak Portuguese, but are not native speakers. Being a Portuguese myself, at first I didn't even realise they were speaking my language because of the strange accent. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by FireSoul (talk • contribs) 2009-02-15T16:02:10.
Danielle and Jin
Anyone remember if Danielle recognized Jin when they met in the first season? We now know that Jin was there when they arrived on the island and he also saved her life by keeping her out of the temple. she should have recognized her when they met again. Also what was the episod in which they met? Thanks, --Geromey 12:02, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- This has been hashed out before - while they were both present in the same general area, they never had any interaction. She never formally met him, though she likely saw him among the other 40 random people on the beach. It's a well known phenomenon that people are less likely to recognize other people in unfamiliar contexts. especially after a long time period. --Jackdavinci 19:33, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Danielle and Dharma
If Danielle arrives in 1988, and sets up the Signal then, to be heard by the Losties in 2004, why didn't the Dharma Initiative do anything about it between 1988 and the Purge in 1992? And how is it that Danielle never comes across any of the DI in that time between 1988 and 1992? Given the motion sensors indicated in 'Namaste', you'd thing she would have been taken in as a hostile. EleriTMLH 06:49, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Surviving the Purge UQ
Am I missing something here ? Why are we questioning how she survived the Purge ? The Others obviously didn't gas the whole Island (otherwise, there would be no polar bears for exemple), and we don't know for a fact that Danielle lived anywhere near the barracks right ? If she didn't, then she simply avoided the Purge ... --LeoChris 05:42, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
- The Tempest was used to gas the Island during the Purge, and this was an Island-wide event. The producers pointed out that originally Ben didn't use the gas grenade to kill Roger, but the gas grenade was added prior to filming in order to add drama to the scene. Guess Ben just couldn't wait one more minute with his father. (It may be inferred that the gas was tailored to affect humans more than the wildlife, since there are boar on the Island; as for the polar bears, they might not have migrated from Hydra yet.) - Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't aware that the producers stated the Tempest was used instead of just grenades. --LeoChris 05:57, 10 May 2009 (UTC)
But we still don't know how she survived the Purge. If the whole island was gased, surely she would have been effected?
The reason for the producers' decision to have Ben use gas grenades cannot be assumed to be for dramatic affect. Regardless of why the producers chose to have Ben use gas grenades, the fact is that he did use gas grenades, and therefore the writers have a way out of the Danielle-not-dying paradox -- the Tempest was not island-wide so Ben used the gas grenades. They may not have realized the paradox at the time, but they do have a way to explain why she didn't die in the gas attack. In addition, there's no such thing as a gas that kills humans and nothing else. Therefore, I think it's safe to assume that the Tempest gas attack was not island-wide.
