Talk:Corvette

Back to page

I changed this from the redirect because Corvette is a different character from Nikki.--Dorritjo 20:09, 30 March 2007 (PDT)

Stuff I changed Edit

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it seems to me that Nikki was simply defending herself when she died, not trying to kill Mr. LaStrange. Edited the article accordingly.

Also added an Unanswered Questions section for a trivial issue that's been bugging me. --Zicsoft 17:25, 4 August 2008 (PDT)

Not dead? Edit

Somebody just edited this page to remove the "deceased" label. Hey, we all saw her gunned down! Is she different somehow because she's fictionally fictional?--Zicsoft 18:35, 16 December 2008 (PST)

I agree. I don't think it should have been changed, because the character of Corvette is deceased within the universe of the show. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  18:42, 16 December 2008 (PST)
Upon looking, it appears this is being done to all the characters. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  18:43, 16 December 2008 (PST)
Just to be precise: poor Corvette died within a fictional universe that's within the fictional universe of the show.--Zicsoft 08:42, 17 December 2008 (PST)

Merge with NikkiEdit

So we definitely have to remove the categories calling her a season 3 character, a flashback character etc. Corvette is not a character on Lost. She is a character in Expose the in-universe TV show. In-universe fictional elements MIGHT deserve articles, but I doubt this one does. Moreover, the article and infobox now treat her as though she is a real person. We can rewrite it to fix this, or we can merge this with Nikki. --- Balk Of Fametalk 20:38, August 27, 2010 (UTC)

  • I am against the merge. She is a fictional character played by a fictional character, yes. However, her entire backstory (although we don't know it) is entirely different to Nikki's. I vote for rewrite but definitely not merge. Lostfan-108 23:46, August 28, 2010 (UTC)
  • No This is a Lost encyclopedia, therefore, we should cover any and every thing related to Lost, including characters from its in-universe TV show. Corvette did appear on Season 3 of Lost, in a flashback, making her a season 3 flashback character. I don't see what the problem with the infobox is either. She is after all portrayed by Nikki. Saying she is portrayed by Kiele Sanchez portraying Nikki Fernandez gets way too technical for my tastes. --LeoChris 02:37, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
See, that's the thing. This is a Lost encyclopedia, so it covers the Lost world as though its the real world and the real world with a special banner designating it as extra-real. If we were wikipedia, that covers hundreds of fictional universes, we'd consider Corvette as real as Nikki. But as far as we're concerned, Nikki is a real person with a back story who lived and died. Corvette isn't.
She is not a character on Lost. No episode credited someone as Corvette. No one named Corvette actually died. Similarly, Mr. LaShade is not a character on Lost. Billy Dee Williams is a character on Lost. Actor Billy Dee Williams played him. Corvette isn't one of Nikki and Paolo's flashback characters. She isn't one of Sun's flash forward characters. We only call something in Lost a character if someone in Lost would consider them a person. If someone on Lost considers them a character, they're in a different category. --- Balk Of Fametalk 03:06, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
I understand your point of view, but I still disagree with it. First of all, though, let me mention that we are not Wikipedia. Wikipedia covers... pretty much everything that's known to man, and therefore, for the sake of simplicity, they have to brush over tiny, tiny, details nobody but the most obsessive fanboys (and I employ that term in the most respectful way possible... I'm one of 'em afterall!) would ever think of possibly caring about. Lostpedia on the other hand... we have articles for most of the background extras. What I'm trying to say is that nothing prevents (nor should it) the information to also be reflected on Nikki's page. Exposé (the TV show, not the episode) is a real thing in Lost. The Reyes are shown to be fans of the series. Hurley seemingly cares (as much as one can) about the fictional characters of the show, as is evidenced by his reaction to reading Nikki's script. Overall, what I mean to say is that I just don't see the harm in leaving this page as is. --LeoChris 07:32, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
So yes, we could keep an article for Corvette. Heck, we have an article for the Swan's dartboard. But we can't call Corvette a character on Lost. Because she isn't one. --- Balk Of Fametalk 07:39, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
No per LeoChris. Corvette, beyond all doubt, is part of Lost. Even though she's less real than Nikki, she was on the show. Indirectly, yes, but Corvette was on Lost. If you're going to vote for the merge of Corvette with Nikki, then why not also go after Billy Dee Williams and Billy Dee Williams (Actor)? Also, by the logic that Corvette isn't a character on Lost, you're also saying that Mr. LaShade should be deleted entirely. Also, LeoChris, Wikipedia in fact does not include everything. They have notability standards too XP烏Γ (kaw at me), 22:13, November 23, 2010 (UTC)
(Edit: I only just read what you said about BDW and LaShade, but my points still stand. XP) —烏Γ (kaw at me), 22:16, November 23, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, I'm well aware that Wikipedia has notability standards, what I meant by that sentence was that they cover a broader range of topics than Lostpedia does, given that we're ultra-focused on Lost. :P Thus, we can actually afford to include really small, perhaps insignificant, details that wouldn't be useful on Wikipedia. ^^ --LeoChris 05:02, November 24, 2010 (UTC)
