Talk:Constant/Theories

I do not think the Orchid station plays a part in this...only because there were 2 rabbits with the same number in the Orchid Station.
Clearly, based on Desmond's consciousness jumping between time, there are not 2 instances of Desmond in one place. That would involve a whole body traveling through time and space.
If the Orchid does play a part in this, these are some loose ends that were not tied up well.

Anyone have any theories as to why Daniel couldn't be Desmond's constant?--moss ryder 20:24, 1 March 2008 (PST)
- Because this would create a paradox. '4th dimensionally' speaking, Desmond's timeline was shifted by the jumping here so that he met Daniel (if he had't have time-jumped in this episode, he would never have know he existed pre-island). Penny existed in all facets of Desmond's timeline, so she could be used to unite them. It's like trying to make a dinner for 4 people, but only having enough food for one meal.
- Also, it has to be someone/thing you really care about. Desmond is meaningful to Daniel because of his research, but when Desmond is in need of a constant, he's only just met Daniel. Daniel isn't a strong enough connection for Desmond to use as a constant.
