Dead or Alive?Edit

A couple of the groups of theories on this page are completely redundant. The producer's have settled it. He is undead. Which means, he is the same Christian throughout, but he is not alive. He is a ghost/zombie/spirit/whatever the heck you want to call it. If it was not the real Christian, a different apparition would have appeared to Locke in Jacob's Cabin (edit: oh, and Hurley too) and to Michael before he died, because Christian has no relation to either of those characters whatsoever. It only makes sense if it is the real Christian.

  • In A Tale of Two Cities when Juliet Burke asks why Jack why he was bringing his father home he gives this statement:

JULIET: Why would you go all the way to Australia just to... JACK: Because he was dead. "Was dead" as in past tense, meaning he is no longer dead. This just gives more proof that he is no longer dead, as the producers has stated he is undead, neither living or dead.

They are talking about events in the past (Jack's visit to Australia) and a state of things - or rather one person, i.e. Christian - concurrent to those events. In such statements, it is custommary in English (and other languages, too) to use the past tense regardless whether subsequent to the events they described the state of the person referred to changed or not. To put it simply: no matter whether Christian is dead or alive or something in between now, when speaking of any time in the past after his death, anyone would use the past tense. Thus this is no argument at all. Sk.bulbul 21:06, March 4, 2010 (UTC)

  • Does a ghost count as "undead"? I thought that usually meant physical properties or to be able to interact with physical things. He seems to be a ghost and sometime avatar of the Island. More likely because the healing properties of the Island had no clue what to do with him as he's probably the only person to arrive at the island dead (Eko's brother may still have been slightly alive upon his arrival).
  • If Christian is undead, does that mean John Locke is too? Because when Jack found his casket his body was missing but he is seen walking around the island and picking up baby Aaron. John Locke is seen walking around and eating food after he died and after his dead body was taken back to the island. Does that mean that any dead body who is brought back to the island become undead? Or are the producers lying about resurrection? Because it seems to me that Christian was dead and now he walks the earth and the same thing is happening to Locke. I vote that we bring back the whole resurrection theory back and work from there.--Deuce Dubbington XVII 06:33, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
    • Locke's body is on the island though. There is a distinct difference between the real locke and FLocke. We see Locke's body and we also see FLocke walking around. This is the same when the smoke monster turns into Eko's brother Yemi. We see Yemi's body and we also see the smoke monster version of Yemi. Christian is completely different. We never see a body. We just see Christian walking around. This makes me think there is something special about Christian. I think Christian is just Christian. He is not a manifestation of the MIB or of Jacob. --Kwhitt78 18:59, March 6, 2010 (UTC)
      • Now that we know Christian was MIB I am very upset. There were so many things that pointed to the contrary. Why would the MIB help Jack? The only thing that pointed to Christian being the MIB was his interaction with Locke about turning the wheel. --Kwhitt78 08:44, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

  • I believe Christian is the smoke monster because of what Claire told Jin, she told Jin "her father (christian)" and her friend (Flocke) told her the others have her babyEmSeeD 00:04, March 14, 2010 (UTC)
    • That quote is exactly why I believe Christian is not the Smoke Monster. Why would Claire distinguish between her father and her friend if they are the same person? -- Managerpants  Contribs  Talk  16:49, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

Christian is a (the?) Candidate Edit

Added alot of material to this section at the end of theories, what do people think of it?

Christian's body/Locke's body question Edit

There's a problem in that although Locke's body still exists when the smoke monster took his appearance, Christian's has disappeared. I think that the reason for this is that when Jesus died in the Bible, his body physically disappeared from Earth (ie: empty tomb) - and I think that Christian Shephard is supposed to be "Jesus", especially after the last episode, where he's the one encouraging them all to "move on".
