Expedition never existed Edit

I had to make a point out of the fact that there still is no way of proving that this expedition ever existed. If that's out of line, feel free to revert my edit. --Noseman 2006 21:42, 11 NOvember 2006 (CET)

Rousseau's a little unstable but I don't think we can really discount the entire science expedition entirely. The producers have talked about it and haven't done their little "...if there was an expedition at all!" joking around. Jeremiahsmith 14:48, 8 February 2007 (PST)

I might have agreed with you up to "The Little Prince", when Jin met them. I think Jin's a reliable narrator.--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 18:15, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Rousseau's accountEdit

Why is Jin in this section of the article? He should be in a separate section. Rousseau's own testimony of these events is a valid section to keep, even if it is now shown to be incomplete. There should be a section of her account, then a section for what we will see in the show. Jin shouldn't be in the former. Ao-bōzu 青坊主 * Talk * Contributions

MontandEdit

Where do we get that Montand was the leader of the expedition? --Gluphokquen Gunih 03:48, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Do we definitely know that Montand is in fact deceased? The last scene with him in is left open-ended, his body is never shown, and Danielle never explicitly states that he is dead (not to mention the fact that she is unreliable). Maybe consider changing his status from deceased to unknown? --User:Fantasyunderfire/sig 13:47, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

  • We have no idea of Montand's life/death status.--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 22:08, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
  • Agreed, there is no evidence one way or the other and it seems like the show wants it to be that way for now. I doubt we are done with the expedition team in terms of the story.--Tezmata 21:26, 11 March 2009 (UTC)

IDs Edit

Where did the names of the last two scientists come from?--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 18:56, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

pretty sure the names of the last two were on the press release for episode 5.04

They were not, and are being removed currently. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  19:27, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
Their names will be revealed in tonight's episode "This Place is Death". I know this in one of the released sneak peeks for the episode Motand said them. --LOST-The Cartographer 16:45, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

RenameEdit

Many science expeditions have visited the Island. There's this one. There's the science team. There's this new expedition by geophysicists. And that's not including possible army nuclear scientists, and oh yeah, the DHARMA initiative. This needs a more specific title.

Yes Rename to Bésixdouze expedition. We call the freighter the Kahana, even though their rarely if ever use that name in the show. We could also consider French expedition or Danielle's team.--- Balk Of Fametalk 21:43, April 30, 2010 (UTC)

The freighter team's purpose was not a science expedition, and the purpose of the science personnel from Widmore's team is not to perform experiments, either. In both cases they are just there in service of Charles Widmore's efforts to recapture the Island.  Robert K S   tell me  00:01, May 1, 2010 (UTC)
True. But they're still both expeditions of scientists. Of the five examples, the French team is the only one that didn't try any science experiments on the island. --- Balk Of Fametalk 00:41, May 1, 2010 (UTC)

Yes Rename to Bésixdouze expedition. It's more specific, as mentioned above (and more 'technical' than "French expedition). TowerCraneDriver 14:35, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

Why do they have guns? Edit

User:LeoChris removed the unanswered question "Why did they have guns?" I disagree that this isn't a big mystery; in fact, it's a mystery posed directly by the show in "Solitary" when Sayid skeptically questions Rousseau on why a science team might need guns. There's no offered explanation why a science expedition would have weapons and as we know, the Kahana crew's weapons wasn't "to defend themselves" (they were tasked with a murderous mission of apprehending Ben Linus and killing everyone on the Island). Yet I agree that at this point it should probably be removed as a UQ since if it was ever going to be explained, it would have happened in "The Little Prince".  Robert K S   tell me  16:16, May 23, 2010 (UTC)

  • I'm sorry if I overstepped my boundaries, it just appeared, to me anyway, as a rather insignificant detail that will forever be unanswered. As seen in This Place Is Death, they brought some things you wouldn't expect them to with them (i.e. the music box, the viola, etc.), is it such a stretch to concieve they also had guns? My comment on the Kahana crew was referring to the science team. Miles is seen armed with a gun in Confirmed Dead. I don't think he's even aware of Keamy's intentions by that point. Anyways, if there's some sort of agreement on the matter, I won't oppose the restoration of the question. --LeoChris 16:28, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
    • I think the Kahana science team must have had some general idea as to the plan. At the very least they knew it was their job to clear the way for the mercenary team by disabling the Tempest.  Robert K S   tell me  17:00, May 23, 2010 (UTC)
