• Lost his arm in the car accident in which Martha Toomey lost her leg.
• Is connected to Marvin Candle, who has also lost an arm.
• Ray's farm is located at Ballarat, a large, prominent farming town about 105km north-west of Melbourne.
• After the return of the Oceanic Six, Ray covers for Kate and lies to the outside world that she was indeed six months pregnant at the time of the crash as Kate claims. He had contact with her for several months prior to the crash and would presumably be able to confirm to the outside world whether she was pregnant or not. Without Ray to back up her story, Kate would have a harder time making people believe that Aaron is her natural son. One possible motive for backing up Kate's story would be to pay Kate back for saving his life (and to make up for turning her in). Ray however wouldn't know the real reason for Kate's lies about Aaron being her son, but would just corroborate her story.
