  • He is not associated with DHARMA or the Widmore company. If he had been involved in any cover up, he would have recognized Sayid as one of the Oceanic 6. Therefore, the reason he was chosen by Ben to be assassinated by Sayid is for some other reason.
  • He is part of Widmore and/or the Hanso Group.
  • He is involved in the cover-up of Oceanic Flight 815.
  • He is the economist Sayid was after. The opening flashforward sequence actually takes place after the rest of the flashforwards.
