• If he leaves Juliet's family during the divorce when she is around 12 or so. Then (re)enters the life of Diane Janssen and Kate (at age 5)there is a possibility (given the strong, younger-version resemblance) that he will eventually turn into the man we know as...

• The following scene would then reflect not only the current quadrangle, but possibly also, the one of the past. Diane, Wayne, Sam Austen and Mrs.Carlson.

MOTHER: Yes. But... we need you both to understand that your father and I... we still love each other. Just because two people love each other, doesn't always mean they're supposed to be together.

BLONDE SISTER: But what if you are supposed to be together?

MOTHER: We're not, honey.

BLONDE SISTER: But how can you know for sure?

The age differences between Juliet and Kate would pan out, with his leaving one and entering the life of the other family.
