Malcolm was the police officer Boone spoke to about Shannon's "abusive" boyfriend Bryan. He saw Sawyer being brought in by officers and commented, "Now if that were her mate see, then I could help you".
He enquired about their different surnames, and wrote down "no blood relation." He is married, as he mentions his wife's wedding dress.
