Malcolm was the police officer Boone spoke to about Shannon's "abusive" boyfriend Bryan. He saw Sawyer being brought in by officers and commented, "Now if that were her mate, see, then I could help you."

He enquired about their different surnames, and wrote down "no blood relation." He is married, as he mentions his wife's wedding dress.

He joked that they were the police, not "the dating police," in response to Boone's claims about the problems Shannon was having with her boyfriend.
