"Make Like A Tree" is an orchestral piece from the Season 6 soundtrack.

Scene descriptionEdit

The Man in Black reveals why he lives with his people: he plans to leave the Island. He tells Jacob about the island's electromagnetism that may help him do so. Jacob refuses to leave his home and instead tells their mother about the plan.

She visits his people and watches them dig a well. She later finds the Man in Black in the well, and he reveals that he nears accessing the Light. They hug, then she smashes his head on the well's stone wall.

InfluencesEdit

The first movement alternates between the Man in Black's theme and the Light theme. The last movement blends the duel motif with the light theme. It ends on the maternal motif.

Title significanceEdit

The title references the expression "make like a tree and leave". The Man in Black describes his plan to leave the Island. His method uses light and water, which trees use for photosynthesis.
