hi.. i have one question.. User:JohnnyTopper is a sysop or not?? --.:: Bra zOn3 ::. 9 may 2006 (GMT-3)

was...[]

he had rabies and we had to put him down... sorry, I thought you were talking about Old Yeller... He is not the first to be very active in the first days of LOSTpedia to dissapear later. Alas, hope he´ll be back for the seventh season, when Boone and Shannon's clones attempt to assasinate Joop. †††GodEmperorOfHell††† --11:54, 9 May 2006 (PDT)

humm.. just the admin and the few active sysops continue to help here.. --.:: Bra zOn3 ::. 9 may 2006 (GMT-3)
The more the merrier, if people have some worthwhile things to add but leave a week later thats fine, lostpedia is a better place because o some of tese people. WIkipedia have hundreds of thousands of atricle because of those people. Koolaidman 14:42, 9 May 2006 (PDT)

Another question... I can't seem to make the talk page on my user page work... :/ What's the trick? :p --ShivaTalk 14:27, 11 July 2006 (PDT)

Edit: Haha, thanks, Captian Insano. I thought all along that I had to activate something to make the "help text" disappear in my user talk page, but... It was just pure ignorance :D Didn't know I could just edit the page, lol... Thanks anyhow! --ShivaTalk 22:17, 11 July 2006 (PDT)
an example of the 'fuzziness' introduced by non-scripted welcome messages. there's mediawiki hooks in place to sort this, guys... --22:32, 11 July 2006 (PDT)

Delete[]

Could you guys please spend some more time over at the delete pages and actually delete or remove the delete tag from pages? http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Category:Delete --Peephole 17:27, 16 July 2006 (PDT)

What a sausagefest...[]

Is aurora female? Just out of curiosity, am I the only female sysop? --PandoraX 16:28, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

I do not believe he is a lady. Do you have any thing sausages Pandora?--CaptainInsano 16:31, 22 October 2006 (PDT)
If you're asking if I have anything against sausages, then the answer is most certainly NO. I'm a connoisseur if anything... ;) --PandoraX 16:39, 22 October 2006 (PDT)
Oo-err. -Chris[dt7] 16:39, 22 October 2006 (PDT)
Well that is good to know Pandora.--CaptainInsano 16:43, 22 October 2006 (PDT)

SysOps[]

Where half the SysOpses gone??? --Princess Dharma (banned) 13:59, 20 February 2007 (PST)

I guess they have other interests or think they have done all they could. They were deleted off this list because they haven't been here in months. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 14:01, 20 February 2007 (PST)

I was wondering where they were Lol. Maybe we'll be getting some new ones soon. --Princess Dharma (banned) 14:02, 20 February 2007 (PST)

That would be nice. I know about six people who I think should be SysOps --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 14:03, 20 February 2007 (PST)

I was going to explain, but I've just had four edit conflicts between you guys - forget it lol! --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:04, 20 February 2007 (PST)
And, six? Let's not go nuts --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:05, 20 February 2007 (PST)

I haven't been on as long as you Crabby but I know of a couple of very likely candidates. What does Nick think? Could we be seeing a couple of promotions sometime soon? Princess Dharma (banned) 14:09, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Well that'd be for the SysOps to decide now wouldn't it. Maybe, maybe not. Oh, but if we did, six? Last time we did 4 and that was unprecendented in itself! --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:10, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Okay, maybe not six, but we do have a bunch of great users. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 14:12, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Yeah there are some great guys on here!!! Princess Dharma (banned) 14:14, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Of course, but in the scheme of things, some people would probably be favourable next time we op people, some better later on. As WP says "it either is or isn't your time yet" etc etc. --Nickb123 (Talk) 14:16, 20 February 2007 (PST)

Inactive Admins[]

Should we also include a list of user who were once admins, but became inactives, just as a reference? --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 12:16, 26 February 2007 (PST)

Admins locking their own userpages[]

I think this is really obnoxious. I wouldn't edit someones page unless there was a typo or something like that, but in theory, if I can't touch their page they shouldn't be able to touch my page, not that they would. You know what I mean? I just hate seeing VIEW SOURCE YOU ARE NOT TRUSTED. Also I hate the term "Sysop". I like "Admin" much better. Thanks. --Sloths 23:52, 25 January 2008 (PST)

Well SysOp userpages are more prone to be vandalised by trolls who get vendettay. Also there's no way wikis can make everyones' userpages untouchable by others unless you set them to high protect access, so can't really be used by most people. Does it really matter if you have no intention of editing e.g. my userpage anyway?!?! --Nickb123 (Talk) 03:45, 26 January 2008 (PST)
Who cares if they "vandalize" your page, it just gives you more reason to ban them, right? --Sloths 13:05, 26 January 2008 (PST)
Does this really matter..? --Lewis-Talk-Contribs 13:18, 26 January 2008 (PST)
We lock out users pages for the minor fact it adds a tiny bit of protection to the wiki we don't have if we don't protect them. The fact that we protect our user pages should not influence anyone but ourselves and vandals. It adds another level of security to the wiki (however minor), and how does it hurt anyone? We don't promote that we lock our user pages, we don't do it just because we can (we have reason, vandalism), we just do for the ease and simplicity of it. A common perception we follow is prevention of something is easier then trying to fix it after the fact. It shouldn't be a major concern to anyone as basically you are arguing why you cannot edit something you would never edit in the first place. Also, the term Sysop refers to a "System Operator", the computer term for an operator of a message board or highly editable website (such as wiki). The term Admin means "Administrator" (See User:Admin) or someone who runs and is in charge. There is only 1 Admin on this site, the guy who owns this site, who owns the servers and every letter on the site, the guy who runs it behind the scenes, and the guy who the Sysops answer to. The Sysops do none of the things he can do, we are regular users who log onto the wiki and have a few more privileges. We do what you see on the wiki and very little behind the scenes. Therefore calling us Admin's would be incorrect and would cause confusion, we are Sysops. While it may not seems right to you, it is the correct terminology to show our ranks/privileges. Hope that clears things up guys. -Mr.Leaf 13:22, 26 January 2008 (PST)
The Internet is serios busines. I think of it as the opposite. A system operator operates the system, while the admin just administrates it. I think you may be confused because Kevin made his username "Admin". You must really like typing. I hate typing. --Sloths 19:43, 26 January 2008 (PST)
I'll keep this one short. The guys who make the wiki software, that most wiki's use, they made the default first account for the creater as User:Admin, and the wiki software has the term Sysop build in (see Special:ListUsers. It's the way this wiki's worksm sysop are always lower rank than an admin (used to be popular to have sysads or sysadmins which were higher) but to be honest, i don't care. I still don't see why this is a big deal and am not sure why I'm continuing this conversation on.-Mr.Leaf 20:12, 26 January 2008 (PST)

Where is everybody?[]

We miss you! Are you guys all off on a group holiday, or is it just bad luck that everyone is busy elsewhere? My guess is that you've all got exams coming up, rather than just losing interest. When can we expect to see more regular activity and patrolling back on the site?--TechNic|talk|conts 07:12, 3 May 2008 (PDT)

Three of the Sysops havn't been seen since April. I think they've been kidnapped. --Blueeagleislander 20:58, 13 July 2008 (PDT)
Yeah. But at least Plkrtn, Jabr, and Nick are still active. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  21:03, 13 July 2008 (PDT)
Unfortunately my degree course is a lot of work, but I try my best to stick around and hopefully will do when the next semester starts til around March time (at which point I'll probs be in revision mode). --Nickb123 (Talk) 03:17, 14 July 2008 (PDT)

Yo Mr.Leaf[]

Id you think that I'm doing things to my self so you can tell that to anyone that put articles and videos on Lostpedia. I didn't advertise myself and you even don't who I'm My video is not different the "the a team" video that on the page/ If "the a team video" is contribute to the site so is mine. You look for me in deliberately and you looking for throw on me a violation that I didn't do, and you looking for an excuse to not let a person to put his contribution on the site. How you can say in yours impertinence that I did nothing compared with another people that contribute to Lostpedia and say that my work is not contributed to the site? You are really rude. The fact that they made some articles or videos is not making them works harder or investor or contributable then mine. I worked for month to make those pictures on the video and it is insulting, impertinence and a scandal to say what You wrote to me. Some one like you not suitable to this duty because you don’t now to tell apart between contribute work or not and you don't know what is it interpersonal relations. That apparently what happen when 17 old children is managers the site. You can know from where I am because a put my detail on the web and you can know according my name and my Ip. So you stories that you can't know this information tell to some one that don't understand anything. You can see my Ip and the proof to that is that you bloocked my Ip. and according to the Ip you can know from what country i am. Maybe there are an anti-Semitic here? Anyway I don't want to speak with you any more and I don’t want to contribute to this antipathetic site any more. My precious time is not worth it and I regret that I spend so mach time to do the pictures if that what I receive in return.

And like I said I promise to take care that an article will be publish about your discrimination and favoritism and i will write to the creators of Lost about this.

I won't be quiet about that you blocked me!!!

--Yifaati 19:23, 17 August 2008 (PDT) Yifaat

Anti-semitism is not an issue here. The creator of the entire show, Damon Lindelof, is Jewish. And no, I'm sure the sysops have a button that says "Block IP." And this is the exact reason we blocked you. Please hold, you will be banned again shortly. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  19:26, 17 August 2008 (PDT)
