Not yet. They can share one for the moment still. There seems to be no great need to break them off just yet.  Plkrtn  talk  contribs  email  14:59, 24 March 2008 (PDT)

Most Frequently Visited

  • Nominated by: --Mr couchman 07:46, 14 May 2008 (PDT)
  • Sometimes I visit Lost pedia and I wonder "whats everyone else looking at". I know that the recent changes page is a good resource, but I was wondering if there is, or ever has been a ranking of articles that have the most hits/visits. It'd be interesting to look at the most popular articles, and hey maybe even some of the least popular.

Timeline Post Island

  • Nominated by: --User:ted4u8
  • As I watch, I always have wondered why the flashbacks/flash forwards happen when they do. It would be cool to see if we can piece together all the flash forwards since they are more important now than the flashbacks. I feel that we know where to start and finish but dont want to put spoilers in. Everything fits together and it would help out to see what is happening before and after the island in chronological order.--Ted4u8 23:20, 15 May 2008 (PDT)

Interviews

  • Nominated by:--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  12:12, 13 April 2008 (PDT)
  • I am a member over at HeroesWiki, and they regularly interview cast members to provide an insight into the show. I think this would be brilliant to do here; I have found contact details for Michael Giacchino and would be more than happy to send him some questions via email (if he agrees). This would be good to implement as it would raise the profile of the site immensely, as well as providing Lost fans with some info they wouldn't be able to find anywhere else.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  12:12, 13 April 2008 (PDT)
This would be quite an interesting implement...-- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  12:36, 13 April 2008 (PDT)
    • Yes. I like this idea. -- LOSTonthisdarnisland 09:11, 14 April 2008 (PDT)
    • Yes. I conduct some of the interviews at Heroes Wiki, and I find the comments of the cast and crew to be enlightening and helpful. They have often answered sticky questions, clarified muddy issues, or just provided good insight. Michael Giacchino is an awesome composer, he has shared terrific ideas about his process on the DVDs, and a fan interview would be a joy to read. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 21:02, 14 April 2008 (PDT)
    • Yes, but we should have somewhere we we can submit questions before the interview. --Mr. Crabby (Talk) 04:19, 16 April 2008 (PDT)
      • That would be on the talk page of the interview articles. The forum members would also be able to submit questions.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  04:28, 16 April 2008 (PDT)
        • A few words of advice: at Heroes Wiki, the founder has set up an "interview" namespace, which helps a lot with sorting, but is not necessary. (Though not to the same effect, a page like "Michael Giacchino/Interview" or even "Michael Giacchino interview" would serve just fine.) Also, a note to the interviewer: if the interview is conducted via email, the interview tends to be shorter and more choppy, but easier to publish and a lot more fan questions get answered directly. Conversational interviews (call Michael, record the interview (I can help with the logistics if needed), then transcribe it) takes a lot longer to do and it's much harder to ask every question requested, but the resulting interview is usually much more full of information, and the interviewee is a bit more candid. - RyanGibsonStewart (talk) 05:20, 16 April 2008 (PDT)
  • Strong Yes. Definitely! Decboy

Family Trees

  • Nominated by: Decboy
  • While we are comparing this to the HeroesWiki, should we do family trees? I don't mean separate articles like on the Heroes Wiki, but just one page for all the main characters (Jack, Claire, Aaron and Kate could be squeezed in one). I know there would be many reasons not to, but still, it's an idea. Think about it. See this one--Decboy
    • Agree although I think that we should go beyond main characters, such as the Widmores. --Blueeagleislander 17:36, 25 April 2008 (PDT)
      • Yeah, that could happen. There could also be one for Goodwin/Harper, Ethan/his wife, Picket/Collen and other Others. Only recurring characters, not one-timers. Also, I don't know how to make a tree. If someone could show me, that'd be great. Thanks. --Decboy
    • I agree - This is a great idea. The trees look well thought out and could provide valuable information about relations between characters. Phil (talk) 15:07, 26 April 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree. But: Although the family trees on Portugese LP are kinda nice, they're mostly single images, which makes them hard to edit. I'll try to come up with some generic images for links in-between characters and make the whole thing editable as a table. It would be great if we added a number of templates to make it even easier. I'll work on the possible linking images and go from there by trial and failure on my sandbox. Does that sound OK?--     c      blacxthornE      t     07:54, 4 June 2008 (PDT)

Languages page

  • Nominated by:--Orhan94 07:29, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
  • In LOST, we have characters from different nationalities and countries of origin, so lots of them speak different languages. Also a reccuring theme on LOST is Jin's language barrier, and the developement of his English through the seasons. Also, few featured characters speak a lot of languages (Naomi, Charlotte, Ben, Sayid), some speak different types of English, from different countries (American-Jack, Kate, Locke etc., Australian-Claire, British-Charlie, Scottish-Desmond). To see my original ides, visit here, though its still under construction. Opininons and suggestions could be posted on my user talk page or here.--Orhan94 07:29, 20 June 2008 (PDT)

Changes to the Main Page

  • Nominated by: --Nickb123 (Talk) 11:52, 19 July 2008 (PDT)
  • My proposal is to, firstly, remove the section from the Main Page entitled "Lostpedia Changelog", as I think it isn't necessary and some of the update gaps are almost a year - do people need this kind of information on the Main Page when now we have other means of spreading new developments for Lostpedia in the News and Blog areas. In its place, I'd like to restore an old section - we used to have a TLE section when it was active, and now instead it could be a more general one concerning Lost ARGs (we are now on our third ARG). Its a hot topic at the moment, and utilizing it allows us to link to portals such as TLE Characters and Themes, things that supposedly should be linked to from the Main Page but are not. This section also takes the heat off the main title nav at the top of the main page a little. Via Domus could even be included in this sectionhead perhaps as well, as it is written by D&C (?).

I then propose some changes to Template:MainPageIntro. We need a better way of organizing portal links, and also as mentioned many times a better promotion of Lostpedia:Interviews is needed too. See an example here - note that this is of course a lame draft, and the table would probably need curving off and looking more swanky, but it gives you an idea of what I mean. --Nickb123 (Talk) 11:52, 19 July 2008 (PDT)

Agree, I also think that if there is a poll it needs to be frequently updated. I also think we should add Quote of the Day (QOTD) to the main page. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 12:10, 19 July 2008 (PDT)

Yeah I also think QOTD should replace "Today in Lost History" which basically has only a little bit of TLE date stuff, but mostly is blank for the majority of dates. --Nickb123 (Talk) 12:15, 19 July 2008 (PDT)
I think that we should have, believe it or not, a portal for the "all portals" page. Also, maybe for the today in Lost history we should have it only in Sept.-Jan. or something similar to that and all other dates just have a quote of the week where the today in Lost history is.--Jinx 19:10, 19 July 2008 (PDT)
Okay well first thing we need a better version of Template:MainPageIntro. As stated, I drafted a sort of rough idea at User:Nickb123/sandbox2. However, we need something more professional, so we need an editor who's good with the coding. --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:54, 25 July 2008 (PDT)
I've finished phase 1 of this, incorporating an ARG section in replace of the changelog. The next step is doing the quote of the day generator to replace "Today in Lost History". I need quotes though, can we start gathering them please? --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:31, 29 July 2008 (PDT)
I would love to start gathering them, but...what are you looking for? Like one line quotes or several lines...?--Jinx 09:39, 29 July 2008 (PDT)
One line preferably though I think two lines are fine if they are setting it up. Definitely no more than 3. --Nickb123 (Talk) 09:41, 29 July 2008 (PDT)
Alright, I have some quote from episodes 1-7, it's not much, but it is something to start on and can probably get us through the next 2 weeks. They are on my user page, I'll keep them up there for 2 days. Sorry, they are not formatted, but I don't know code that well.--Jinx 11:31, 29 July 2008 (PDT)
I made a page for quotes to be added too. LP:QOTD. --Blueeagleislander 00:15, 30 July 2008 (PDT)
Just to let people know - I've finished rejigging Template:MainPageIntro at User:Nickb123/sandbox2. Its mostly the same, just organized the portals in categories similar to the French Lostpedia. --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:33, 31 July 2008 (PDT)

Create a Mozilla Search Engine

  • Nominated by: --Marksman 09:05, 14 August 2008 (PDT)
  • I would love it if someone with programming ability could create a download so we can add Lostpedia to the search engines I can put on my Firefox Taskbar. (Maybe someone has.) There's one for wikipedia. Perhaps that can be adopted for lostpedia as well.
  • I just created one, and it looks like there were already others available here [1] --  >: BLEF    09:37, 14 August 2008 (PDT)
Yes I've had mine for almost a year now I think. I'll find the old link... --Nickb123 (Talk) 10:10, 14 August 2008 (PDT)

Delete "Status" from Notable Visitors or replace with Day/Episode

  • Nominated by: --Jackdavinci 12:58, 17 May 2008 (PDT)
  • Is there any possible reason for including "status" in the notable visitor tables? Status is only relevant in the character's own page. I mean are we going to start putting all the other trivia about characters like birthday and flashback episodes here too? It says nothing about the location if a visitor randomly died in some later episode. It would make more sense to have a column for the episode or time-line day they visited. Let's delete the status column for notable visitor tables, or replace it with episode or day.
    • Agree- This is much more relevant than the status. This already seems to have started taking place on new pages. It would be good to be an official policy. --Connor401 14:21, 31 May 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree - This would be a good idea. Phil (talk) 07:50, 4 June 2008 (PDT)
      • Agree: I never liked the status bar, it seems if they run away to another country, we have to put status unknown, cause you know they may be dead or something. Its so silly. --Nickb123 (Talk) 04:54, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
Agree: The only notable thing where the status applies is the Looking Glass, because all but one of the characters who visited the looking glass died in or near it. That can be mentioned in the trivia however. Day/Episode would be much better. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  13:51, 7 August 2008 (PDT)
Agree and a Comment to the previous, Desmond did not die in or near the Looking Glass --Orhan94 14:19, 7 August 2008 (PDT)
I know, that's why I said all but one. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  14:24, 7 August 2008 (PDT)
Oh, sorry didn't read that.--Orhan94 14:26, 7 August 2008 (PDT)

Agree, I think we should start doing this sooner rather than later. There really isn't any reason to wait. "Status" should be replaced by "Episode". -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 10:01, 19 August 2008 (PDT)

Agree, using episodes, but what are the mechanics? Episode names can be long. The four-character (SxEE) codes are good but some editors might not get the message. If a character visited more than once, do all the eps get identified?--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 12:29, 19 August 2008 (PDT)

If a character goes there more than once, I think it would get way too crowded to list all episode appearances. Locke and Jack would probably have over 10 appearances at the Swan. I think only there first visit should be listed. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 13:22, 19 August 2008 (PDT)

Job List Update

Nominated by: Nickb123

This is a follow-on from the Lostpedia Project Groups discussion, where it was decided that instead the job list should be updated to include lists of current pages needing work, along with better outlining and promotion of the page amongst editors. Solutions are welcome here. --Nickb123 (Talk) 11:58, 4 August 2008 (PDT)

I think a job list page (or something like it) would work (linked to from the community portal), with ideas suggested on the talk page and then moved to the main page by sysops. But it has to be major jobs, like "Create comprehensive articles for every issue of Lost magazine, and cleanup Lost Magazine page." -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  16:48, 5 August 2008 (PDT)

How about something like this? At the bottom you can suggest "major" or "minor" jobs/projects for the site. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 18:25, 5 August 2008 (PDT)

I think I'm gonna implement this idea to the Job List. Basically, if there's a major or minor project that needs to be done, list it under the appropriate category. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 13:23, 11 August 2008 (PDT)

I think we should make a separate page for the projects like Lostpedia:Projects. This would make it much easier to keep track of projects. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 13:29, 11 August 2008 (PDT)

Eric Hutchinson article

  • Nominated by: Nickb123
    • This guy played in the William T. Kilpatrick restaruant TLE video and talked for a while. There's reasonable grounds for his own article. He had a speaking role, more than most in TLE. His blatant promotion to Jeep Compass is also interesting, and the songs he half-sang etc. --Nickb123 (Talk) 09:48, 22 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Agree: Good enough reason to me. That'll also mean a disambig page for Hutchison. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  14:20, 22 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Agree: Would have more content than mmost articles. --Blueeagleislander 18:22, 22 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Agree: -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 18:23, 22 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Disagree: If I follow the links in William T. Kilpatrick, I end up in the Wikipedia. We should showcase the work of Lostpedia editors in Lostpedia articles.--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 06:00, 23 August 2008 (PDT)

Episode Reception

  • Nominated by: Sam McPherson
    • Crabby had nominated something like this in the past, with the result being no consensus. I'm going to restart it and see what opinions surface. Hopefully, a consensus can be reached this time. Okay, now on with the proposal. Wikipedia, on many Lost episode pages (especially for season four) employs a section on the episode article with the reactions of critics for the episode. I love reading these sections, and find it very interesting to see the opinion of professional critics about these episodes. Therefore, I feel that a reception section should be added to episode articles. However, all reviews and whatnot MUST BE SOURCED in order to be added to the article, and must be from a reputable source, such as EW or Kristin or something. Somebody's old blog just won't do. If written in an impartial way, without bias, I think that these could be a very good addition to the wiki.-- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  13:46, 7 August 2008 (PDT)
      • Agree Would the reception be on a separate page or on page of the respective episode? I also need to add that we have a reception for the webisodes, so why not for the episodes--Orhan94 14:17, 7 August 2008 (PDT)
      • Sorta Agree It would be better is we make a page dedicated to just the critiques. --JPB. T. C. E. 16:13, 10 August 2008 (PDT)
      • Agree Especially the part where a reputable source would be needed. EW does some nice reviews. BETTYFIZZW (Talk) 21:19, 16 August 2008 (PDT)
      • Weary: You'd need retroactive episode reception sources for all 4 seasons - its a hell of a job. I think the best approach is to do what bulldogdispatch said as a prelim - make a "critique" page and do a full list and get that complete for ALL episodes. Then we can begin the process of pasting this into individual episode articles. --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:57, 22 August 2008 (PDT)
        • So, could we start the page. The sooner the better.--Orhan94 13:08, 24 August 2008 (PDT)

Separating DWY article into sub-articles

  • Nominated by: Nickb123
  • The article is pretty damn messed at the moment, and I think the best solution is to follow similar to how chapters were defined during Find 815 and separate tests. So, there'd be a "main article" link on DharmaWantsYou.com (or even a snazzy template like for posts on the Rachel Blake page) and then subarticles such as "DharmaWantsYou.com/Test 1" or "DharmaWantsYou.com/Eligibility Test". This would be a lot easier, would de-clutter, and allow much more information to be given outside of our calendar clue pages (which is more for historical and research use than encyclopedic referencing). --Nickb123 (Talk) 08:16, 27 August 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree. It should be done as soon as possible.--Orhan94 09:58, 27 August 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree. Worth mentioning the recruit groups as well. --My name is Thiefree. I expect I'll duck out as soon as s5 starts to air - extreme spoiler paranoia, you know how it is - but until then I'll be pottering about making the occasional change / suggestion. That is all. 18:58, 27 August 2008 (GMT)

Quote of the Week/Day

This could be done. Its similar in principle to the idea of creating "What happened on this day in Lost" - which Plkrtn proposed. He set up dynamic coding for it as well, so you don't have to edit it everyday. Get say 60 quotes, and then just pump em into the coding and it'll change itself each day! Quite an easy idea to enforce if people like it. Also, save time and just go on IRC, I believe polarbear (if he's still with us) has an auto-quote generator function using Lostpedia script archives. --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:06, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
  • I like this idea--Mistertrouble189 07:30, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
  • Awesome idea. It can go right under "Today on Lost History" on the main page. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 11:05, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
  • Yes I really think it would be a good idea and should go under the Lost history section as CTS said. I think it would be better if someone chose the quotes and put them all in some code so they would all pop in as Nick said, but really using an auto quote could come up with some stupid quotes like. (guns cock), (kate sighs) etc. We should also put the episode it is from and who said it.--Jinx 15:58, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
I think that we should nominate quotes that could be included. Those that are good quotes we can put in. I think that the users need to vote what quotes to use. Then they can be randomly generated or something. There should also be a variety of quotes (from various episodes and characters). -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 16:14, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
  • Yes. Don't limit to series quotes though. I wanna hear Via Domus, DVD extras, Darlton jokes etc. --Blueeagleislander 02:30, 21 June 2008 (PDT)
  • Agree. It will give a laugh to lighten our day. --JPB. T. C. E. 17:45, 24 June 2008 (PDT)
  • See LP:QOTD. --Blueeagleislander 00:19, 30 July 2008 (PDT)
  • Fantastic Bleag. If you need any quote gathering help, let me know. --TokyoRose 14:45, 5 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Yes. but I'd prefer it to be a random quote, that changes each time you load the page. I can make a template for that. --CharlieReborn 15:38, 5 August 2008 (PDT)
  • I prefer quote of the day. --TokyoRose 02:55, 6 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Yes We should do quote of the week for now, but when the new season starts and we get more quotes, we should switch to quote of the day. --JPB. T. C. E. 18:00, 27 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Yes And please make it quote of the day, not week. I'd love a bit more action on the main page. Include links to the quoted person and episode / pod cast / whatever. Except from that keep it simple--Mc peko 04:37, 31 August 2008 (PDT)

Lostpedia Interviewee Banner

  • Nominated by Sam McPherson
    • I feel that the interviews need to be publicized more, both internally and externally. I was thinking, many articles of people we have interviewed do not even link to the interview. So that got me to thinking: what if, instead of adding a lengthy nav on the bottom or something, just putting a banner on top, a sample of which you can see here, and leaving it at that. Thoughts, or other ideas? -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  16:46, 31 August 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree I like the idea, it would be very effective I think. Also, we should have a banner that says, such and such is accepting questions here, or the interview will be posted on blank.--JinxTalk Contribs 23:11, 31 August 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree I think this idea is great. --Ryan76el 01:46, 1 September 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree but I don't think the banner needs to be that big. --Blueeagleislander 02:14, 1 September 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree, and could we have a banner for interviews to come.--Orhan94 08:44, 1 September 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree, Great idea and I like the idea of also having one to say the person is taking questions. --   Dee4leeds  talk  contribs  all  10:18, 1 September 2008 (PDT)
    • I kind of sized-down the banner;it was just an example. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  13:22, 1 September 2008 (PDT)
    • Agree, but turn the banner into a box, similar to Template:PandoraDIRP in style.--  Lost Soul   talk  contribs  13:32, 1 September 2008 (PDT)
      • Eh, I think it should be the new style that Sam made, I really think that boxes that big should go at the bottom, and I think it is nessecary to put the banner at the top so the first thing the people see is the banner.--JinxTalk Contribs 14:19, 1 September 2008 (PDT)
    • Well, I'm going to start adding the banners, but if there are any objections, please put them here. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  14:29, 1 September 2008 (PDT)

Need some smileys here...

  • I think the Lostpedia could need some emoticons, to use them on discussion pages. Emoticons like ";-)" or "^^" don't look that good with the Wiki-font. I'd propose (some of) these, we're using in DE - Lostpedia quite a while. To use them easily, a couple of templates are necessary, like {{Smile}} or {{Wink}}. I didn't wanna create them before discussing this topic.
--DerAndre green       19:35, 6 September 2008 (PDT) Smiley emoticons wink
  • Yeah, I must admit, that the dracula thing is a bit weird --DerAndre green       09:18, 7 September 2008 (PDT)
  • Okay, I created four templates now: {{Smile}} Smiley emoticons smile, {{Sad face}} Smiley emoticons nosmile, {{Wink}} Smiley emoticons wink and {{Tongue}} Smiley emoticons razz. --DerAndre green       10:35, 16 September 2008 (PDT)

Archiving Article Talk Pages

On some articles, the talk page seems to be very long. I am proposing we start archiving the long article talk pages the same way we archive our user talk pages. I would have got to it ASAP, but I figured I first need permission to do so. --TRUETECH

Some already have been, e.g John Locke. --Blueeagleislander 01:33, 15 September 2008 (PDT)
So is it ok to go ahead and archive them, or do I need to ask sysops first? TRUETECH
If they've died from lack of interest, they should be "archived" into "Denied Requests."--Jim in Georgia Contribs Talk 10:14, 15 September 2008 (PDT)
I don't believe that's what they're talking about. -- Sam McPherson  T  C  E  14:50, 15 September 2008 (PDT)
I agree, I think that after 25 or 30 we should archive them, I would say go ahead.--JinxTalk Contribs 15:48, 15 September 2008 (PDT)
Thanks, TRUETECH

Episode numbers

I suggest we add episode numbers to the episode articles. Not just, for instance 03x03, like we have now, but also the actual total number, like in not related to the season. Recaps, clip-shows and such should not be included perhaps. But I'm not sure about that.--Mc peko 10:20, 17 September 2008 (PDT)

Magazin links

Nominated by:--Orhan94 09:46, 29 October 2008 (PDT)

  • We should have protected templates for the episodes (ex. {{ep|1x01}} is "Pilot, Part 1"), the mobisodes (ex. {{ep|mx01}} is "The Watch") and the Via Domus episodes (ex. {{ep|vdx01}} is "Force Majeure"). Shouldn't we have a simular thing for the magazins, I mean they are named, the issues are numbered and each issue has its own article. Example {{mix01}},{{issuex01}} or {{ep|mix01}}, will link to the first issue of the magazin.--Orhan94 09:46, 29 October 2008 (PDT)
  • Yes, I will create templates as soon as I finish all of the magazine articles. I should be completely finished with the articles in a few days. I think for the magazines the templates should be {{mag|ix01}}, {{mag|ix02}}, etc. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 15:01, 29 October 2008 (PDT)

I have completed all magazine articles and have created templates for each {{mag|ix01}}, {{mag|ix02}}, etc. See Template:Mag and Template:Mag/doc for the individual templates. -- CTS  Talk   Contribs 20:15, 29 October 2008 (PDT)

Search Suggestions like wikipedia

  • I would like to suggest to make our search program more like wikipedia. In wikipeida, when you are typing something in the search box, It gives you search suggestions. Is there anyway we can do that?
This is quite a good idea, though it'd require a certain extension. Worth looking into though. --Nickb123 (Talk) 05:01, 20 June 2008 (PDT)
This would require the Search Suggestions extension. It looks like it works out of the box with Monobook, but needs some tweaking with Lostbook. Admin will need to install it.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 18:08, 1 July 2008 (PDT)
I have successfully installed this on my dev wiki and tweaked it for Lostbook. Now we just need Admin to make the changes on Lostpedia.    Jabberwock    talk    contribs    email   - 08:48, 2 July 2008 (PDT)
Thanks. This would be a major technological advancement for this site.--JPB. T. C. E. 19:29, 10 July 2008 (PDT)
I don't know about 1.11.2 but for 1.13 if you paste $wgEnableMWSuggest = true in the local settings file, it works perfectly. --JPB. T. C. E. 14:58, 11 August 2008 (PDT)
  • Thanks to the Wikia move, this can be activated in your preferences. --Blueeagleislander 04:26, 20 December 2008 (UTC)
