GNations Lost

By Jon Lachonis, TV Overmind
We all know Gregg Nations as the ‘head librarian’ of building 23. He’s the guy who make sure the plot holes are closed. He could be the only person on earth who knows where Locke’s compass came from. He is also the creator of Lost University, which is already being hailed as one of the best examples out there of what BD Live technology is capable of. Gregg spoke with TVOvermind about the development of Lost University, and what the future may hold for the project. Read more...

The Final Season Sweepstakes
BeginningOfEndSweepstakes

ABC is presenting an opportunity to be among the first to see exclusive footage of the opening of Season 6. 815 winners will receive an exclusive message in a bottle with the opening scene to the final season premiere... days before it premieres. This is a great way for ABC to stimulate excitement for what will be an epic premiere of Season 6. Although, if I was one of the 815 winners, I'm not sure I'd want to read the opening prior to watching it on TV. I think part of the excitement and shock is going to be watching the opening on TV come February, 2nd 2010. Either way, it would be pretty cool to be among the first to get the exclusive opening scene prior to February 2nd. Read More...

Q&A: 'Lost' producers discuss emotional final season
Lost sw
From The Live Feed, thrfeed.com

Get ready to return to the island one last time: The final season of ABC's "Lost" is going to be an emotionally intense journey that harks back to previous highlights of the series, with the ideological battle between Jack Shephard and John Locke taking center stage.
By the time most major network shows cross the finish line, they're limping in the ratings and creatively exhausted, wrung out by networks and producers trying to mine just a few more hours. With "Lost" producers having persuaded ABC to set 2010 as a series end date years ago, the hit drama is going into its final lap with level of fan anticipation rarely seen for the ending cycle of a broadcast show. While ABC has kept silent on the issue, according to media buyers, the network will be charging advertisers around $900,000 for 30-second ad spots during the Lost series finale episode. LOST is a show known for its large ensemble cast, all of whom are top-notch actors. However, it's a truth universally acknowledged that Terry O'Quinn and Michael Emerson form the top tier of that cast. But with the end of LOST, will we ever see those two fantastic actors share the screen together? The answer isn't quite a yes; it's more of a strong maybe. LOST's sixth season might be losing a little bit of momentum as it approaches the show's final batch of episodes. Episode fourteen of the season will not air on April 27 as previously expected. Instead, it will be pushed back a week and will air on May 4, two weeks after episode thirteen, which will air April 20. So what will be airing in that timeslot on April 27? No, it's not some major event like the Olympics or a Presidential address. They'll simply be replaying episode nine of the season, "Ab Aeterno." I mean, sure, it's a good episode, but do we really want to see that instead of a new episode? Of course not. Like Charlie, we'll be jonesing for a fix before those two weeks are up. Lost finale ratings good, not great
6x17 OverTheCoffin
Robert K S, Lostpedia staff

An average 13.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the American airing of the 2.5-hour Lost finale, "The End", last Sunday. It was the highest-rated program that evening, but fell far short of matching the viewership numbers posted by the finales of such shows as M*A*S*H (well over 100 million), Seinfeld (76 million), Friends (52 million), and even ALF (21.7 million). By comparison, the American Idol season finale, that show's lowest-rated since its first season, had nearly double the number of Lost's finale viewers, with 24.2 million. And though it was the highest-rated Lost episode in two years, the finale viewership numbers were also well below the show's average viewership during Season 1, which was around 19 million per episode. The viewership numbers are not significantly increased even taking into account online viewings on ABC.com and the record number of torrent downloads, which only numbered in the single-digit millions. Review - LOST, Season 6
JackDiesWithVincent
Sam McPherson, TVOvermind/Lostpedia staff

No season of television has ever been scrutinized so closely as LOST's sixth season has. From the premiere, "LA X," to the finale, "The End," the season was pored over by fans eager to know how one of television's greatest mysteries would end. And, when the end finally rolled around, it was the most controversial series finale since Tony Soprano cut to black back in 2007. That is to say, it has garnered the most polarized opinions I've ever seen. For season six, you either loved it or you hated it, and that applies doubly to "The End." Personally, I loved it. I can already hear about half of you groaning in disgust. But before you move your cursor up to that X, hear me out: I'm not naive about the season. You won't be seeing a big red A+ at the end of this article. Season six had some flaws and faults, but those didn't really affect my enjoyment of the season as a whole. Read More...

But now that Sawyer's (and LOST's) storyline has ended, actor Josh Holloway might just be moving on to a bigger job: superhero movies. Holloway is in talks for a lead role in an as-yet unknown film: "Apparently there’s been talk between Marvel and his group to play a “lead” role in an upcoming Marvel film. We mention a “lead” role because these bigger actors often won’t sign “retainers”, meaning everything should be 100% locked (character, film, etc) for Josh once he’s signed the dotted line." Today is the premiere of Knowing LOST, a fan-created project that is a "fan fiction" in every sense of the word. Knowing LOST is a project designed to celebrate the entire fandom, from the podcasters to the bloggers, from the spoiler debates to the finale arguments. How do I know? Because I created it. It's been a collaborative effort between several members of the fan community and myself. While the first episode, "Irony Is the Sincerest Form of Fate," is written entirely by me, as the series progresses, more writers will come in and write episodes. Knowing LOST tells the story of two fans of the series. Both love LOST, but in completely opposite ways. I Pretty Much Wanted to Die - The Origins of LOST

The origins of Lost, as told by the people who made it, in an exclusive first serial excerpt from The Revolution Was Televised

The story of Lost makes no sense.

And by that I don't mean the story on the show — though this is the point where you can feel free to insert jokes about the numbers, the outrigger shootout, or the reasons why Walt was "special" — but the story of how Lost itself got made.

The creation of Lost defies nearly everything we know about how successful television shows — or great ones — are made. The idea for Lost came not from a writer, but a network executive. The first writer on the project got fired. The replacement creative team had a fraction of the usual time to write, cast, and produce a pilot episode. The executive who had championed the show was himself fired before it ever aired. One of the two creators all but quit the moment the pilot was finished. Nearly every creative decision at the start of the show was made under the assumption that it would never succeed. Everyone believed it was too weird, too dense, too unusual to work. And it may have been. But it worked, anyway. Read More...
