"Kumbaya" is a song referenced in the episode "Dave" in which Sawyer mentions it sarcastically to Libby in response to her suggestion that no one need be in charge of the distribution of food from the pallet drop amongst the survivors, because everyone can "just take what they need".

The song is claimed to have been composed by Reverend Marvin V. Frey (1918–1992) in the 1930s in Portland, Oregon. The Folksmiths including Joe Hickerson recorded the first LNP version of the song in August 1957. The song enjoyed newfound popularity during the folk revival of the 1960s, largely due to Joan Baez's 1962 recording of the song,
