IMDb profile

Josh Holloway played the role of James "Sawyer" Ford.

Background

Joshua Lee Holloway, (born July 20, 1969), in San Jose, California is an American actor and former model. His family moved to Georgia when he was a baby, and he grew up in Free Home, Georgia (to this day, he still considers himself a "Blue Ridge Mountain boy"). He had a successful career as a model until he got bitten by the acting bug and relocated to Los Angeles. He had minor acting parts in shows such as Walker: Texas Ranger, Angel and CSI, and co-starred with Nastassja Kinski and Jeff Fahey in the B-movie thriller Cold Heart, in which he played the role of a married woman's lover/stalker.

However, times were tough, and competition fierce for good roles. He was in serious need of acting work just prior to Lost. He relates the timing of his casting as a fortuitous windfall for him, because it came just when he was about to give up on acting. He had been waiting to get a secure job before proposing to his then-girlfriend Yessica Kumala, to whom he finally proposed on the set of the "Pilot, Part 1", and married on Kauai in October, 2004. (Finding Lost: The Unofficial Guide).
