Josh Holloway played the role of James "Sawyer" Ford.

Background[]

Joshua Lee Holloway, (born July 20, 1969), in San Jose, California is an American actor and former model. His family moved to Georgia when he was a baby, and he grew up in Free Home, Georgia (to this day, he still considers himself a "Blue Ridge Mountain boy"). He had a successful career as a model until he got bitten by the acting bug and relocated to Los Angeles. He had minor acting parts in shows such as Walker: Texas Ranger, Angel and CSI, and co-starred with Nastassja Kinski and Jeff Fahey in the B-movie thriller Cold Heart, in which he played the role of a married woman's lover/stalker.

However, times were tough, and competition fierce for good roles. He was in serious need of acting work just prior to Lost. He relates the timing of his casting as a fortuitous windfall for him because it came just when he was about to give up on acting. He had been waiting to get a secure job before proposing to his then-girlfriend Yessica Kumala, to whom he finally proposed on the set of the "Pilot, Part 1", and married on Kauai in October 2004. (Finding Lost: The Unofficial Guide).
