"Flying High" is an orchestral piece on the Season 3 soundtrack. It plays during the opening of the season finale.

Scene descriptionEdit

On a plane, Jack reads a newspaper obituary. On the ground, he reads it again and starts crying. He calls someone and leaves a message. Then he gets out of his car, walks up to the edge of a bridge and prepares to jump off. A car crash behind him interrupts him.

In the present, the survivors - Sayid and Jack, Rose and Bernard, Hurley and Claire - discuss their preparations. They begin marching to the radio tower.

InfluencesEdit

The piece begins with Jack's theme. It then introduces Jack's new faith motif. The second movement uses the main theme and its counterpoint. The final movement is a variation on the traveling theme.

Title significanceEdit

Jack is drunk and likely high on prescription drugs while he is flying.
