A flight attendant declined Jack Shephard's request for another drink while working on an Oceanic Airlines flight to Los Angeles from a Pacific point of departure. Noticing Jack's inebriated condition, she told him that they would be landing in 20 minutes anyway, and offered him the newspaper instead, where he found an article reporting the death of Jeremy Bentham.
