Alan Wake[]

  • Lost has been confirmed by lead writer Sam Lake to be a source of inspiration for Alan Wake as "a very good showcase of thriller pacing done right within a TV-series context".[1]
  • The supernatural threat in the game is darkness which sometimes manifests itself as a massive black storm cloud ripping down trees. This is very similar to the appearance and aggressive nature of the Monster.
  • The primary theme of Alan Wake is light vs. dark, a prevalent theme within Lost.

Assassin's Creed : Black Flag[]

  • There is a character in the game named Desmond Miles, which may be a reference to the characters Desmond Hume and Miles Straume by combining both their first names.
    • Desmond Miles is actually the main character for the first five games in the Assassin's Creed series (Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed II, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Assassin's Creed III), the first of which was released in November 2007. The character of Miles Straume wasn't introduced until 2008.

Diablo III[]

In the Stinging Winds (Act II), there is a broken down ship in the middle of the desert. If you're lucky enough to find it, you'll also encounter a very short event that will give you one of 6 special pages:

  • The Black Rock Ledger, page 4

Damn, I always thought that being a first mate would be more exciting. I guess I shouldn't expect much from a mining expedition. Ever since we set off from Kingsport, all I've done is sit out on deck and watch the deckhands argue.

  • The Black Rock Ledger, page 8

Haven't been able to get much sleep these past few days. Apparently my sea legs aren't as sturdy as I thought they'd be. I've vomited more times than I can count, and every time Captain Hanso offers me some ale, I have to come up with some excuse to decline.

  • The Black Rock Ledger, page 15

After three straight days of this storm, I'm almost convinced that this ship has some sort of curse on it. Each week brings some new trouble that I have to deal with. I'm not sure what will give out first, the ship... or me.

  • The Black Rock Ledger, page 16

Reyes tells me that it was some colossal wave that did the ship in. I was down below when it all happened. Several of us survived the wreck. The rest of them have gone off to try and figure out where the hell we are, as if any of that matters.

  • The Black Rock Ledger, page 23

Madness, complete bloody madness. The captain has disappeared into the desert somewhere, and the rest of the survivors are convinced there's some sort of monster after us. I'm starting to think the crewmen that died in the wreck got the easy way out, lucky bastards.

  • The Black Rock Ledger, page 42

All the rest of them are dead now... I'm the only one left. Strange deformed creatures attacked the wreck, where most of us were sleeping. I managed to get away safely... but I don't imagine it will be that way for long. I can hear them... giggling in the shadows, like this is some kind of game. -First Mate McMahon

Notice the page numbers are a reference to The Numbers

Both have a very similar premise; Endless Summer revolves around a group of college students landing on an island for a one week tropical vacation, only to discover that this is no ordinary island. Additionally, one of the main characters in the book, Jake, bears a slight resemblance to Sawyer, and also tends to give nicknames to the others.
