Fern is a DHARMA Initiative member. She was seen lying down in the Barracks after the Purge, dead and bleeding from her nose as a result of the toxic gas. Her nametag revealed that she was a worker. She was subsequently buried in the mass grave. (Lost: The Complete Third Season (DVD))

A Worker is possibly the female equivalent of a Work Man (like Roger Linus and Buzz).
There is another woman named "Fern" that works for the DHARMA Initiative in "LaFleur", where she was seen checking up on Amy and later assisting Pierre Chang in the filming of the Arrow Orientation film. ("Because You Left") ("LaFleur")
