Background
Emilie de Ravin was born and raised in Mount Eliza, Victoria, Australia. Emilie de Ravin began studying ballet at the age of nine, and by age fifteen, was accepted into a very competitive Australian Ballet School in Melbourne. After one year, she dropped out of the course, allegedly due to the "bitchy atmosphere." De Ravin soon began acting training at Australia's National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) as well as Prime Time Actors Studio.
De Ravin's first appearance in a starring role came in the fantasy drama, "Beastmaster." However, she was written out of the role. When her agent told her about an available role in the American sci-fi drama "Roswell," she flew to America to audition for the part, and won. She portrayed Tess on "Roswell." Emilie relocated to California and filmed "Roswell" before finding a home in Southern California. [1]
De Ravin has spent the better part of the 2004 - 2010 in Hawaii filming Lost. She has also pursued other acting projects. She has made guest appearances in CSI:Miami and The Handler. In 2005, she entered into the film industry starring in films such as "Santa's Slay" and "Brick". In 2010 she will star in a movie titled "Remember Me" with Twilight's Robert Pattinson.
De Ravin married her longtime boyfriend, Josh Janowicz, on June 19, 2006 in Australia. The couple later divorced, however, in June 2009.
