- The sailing trophy seen in Edmund Burke's office is a reference to the sailing race done by Desmond and sponsored by Widmore.
- His "accident" is well planned by the people that want Juliet to come with them, the bus driver killing him could be Ryan who is ironically driven over by Hurley later on the island.
- Though it would make more sense if the driver was Richard, it was certainly an other. While Juliet and Edmund are talking (in the scene), you can see the bus at a stop, very close to the two. When Edmund gets hit by the bus, the bus is traveling VERY fast. The bus wouldn't travel that first normally and especially from a short distance away.
- Plus, Richard obviously is lying when they meet Juliet later in the morgue; she notes she commented on Edmund getting hit by a bus, but Richard replies "I don't even remember you saying that".
- Why Ryan?
- Because he "is driven over by Hurley later on the island". This may be a great explanation.
- Richard was driving the bus.

- There's a very old superstition that "naming calls". That is, talking about a possible misfortune can cause the misfortune to actually happen. Many people still believe this. In the Lost universe, where causality seems to follow many unlikely paths, this superstition is simple fact. Thus, Juliet's offhand comment about Edmund getting hit by a bus actually causes Edmund to be hit by a bus.
