Daniel has a caretaker because he is "unstuck" in time as a result of his experiments at Oxford. He is suffering mental degradation, but, unlike others, has not suffered from an aneurysm because he understands the problem.
Her face isn't shown because we have encountered her before, or are going to see her in the near future and she is important to the story in some way.
- They have shown how the other characters relate, even before we really knew they were important. Would this caretaker really be important enough in the grand scheme of the show to intentionally not show her face and it matter somehow? It would drastically change the way the show is done.
