Caroline was Daniel Faraday's caretaker in Essex, Massachusetts following his affliction of memory loss as a result of temporal displacement.
When Daniel watched a television newscast showing footage of the recovery of the faked wreckage of Oceanic Flight 815, Caroline noticed Daniel crying and asked why he was upset. She then answered the door and invited Charles Widmore inside and offered him tea.
