Theories

Buzz was a DHARMA Initiative member who came to the Island in 1973, and killed in the Purge.

On the Island

1973

Buzz was a new DHARMA recruit, and he came to the Island along with Ben and Roger by the Galaga. He was then welcomed by Casey, June and Mike at the pier. Afterward, he went to the Processing Center along with the other new recruits, and registered.  ("The Man Behind the Curtain")

1992

Buzz's death   (Lost: The Complete Third Season (DVD))

Years later, Buzz was seen sweeping the grass at the Barracks, and a grown up Ben was walking past him.

Not long, Buzz began to water the grass, then the purge happened, and he inhaled poisonous gas. As a result, Buzz, along with other DHARMA members at the barracks, were killed. Significantly, Buzz was still holding the hose after he died.  ("The Man Behind the Curtain")  (Lost: The Complete Third Season (DVD))

Trivia

• Although Buzz appeared in "The Man Behind the Curtain", his name and his job title which labeled on his jumpsuit, were too far for audience to identify. These information were later given in the season 3 DVD, when Buzz's body was seen in the Lost on Location of "The Man Behind the Curtain".
• Buzz's jumpsuit identified him as a Workman.   (Lost: The Complete Third Season (DVD))
