Mysterious Voice in the Substitute
Is it me or did a voice shout 'James!' just before the ladder breaks beneath Sawyer in The Substitute?
Man with no name has to be the Monster
If the man can become the form and have all of the memories of the deceased he shares the same power that the monster does. But that isnt all the smoke monster told ben, as Alex, that he was to follow John Locke and do whatever he says. Also durring "Dead is Dead" when john goes to find rope to get ben out of the hole only then does the monster appear. and even earlier in the episode when ben tries to summon the monster it wont come. John was also standing outside.
Just does not add up
looking back at the Incident when Bram and Ilana said that Jacob hadnt been there for a long time. Who then told Locke to move the Island?
Horace built the cabin and something very convenient
in season four (episode name escapes me) Locke has a dream of Horace cutting down trees to build Jacobs cabin. But from season 5 we all find out Horace has nothing but hatred for the hostiles. So is there something here i missed? Also when Locke went to the cabin for the first time he picked up some of the ash around the cabin. During the incident Ilana and Bram said something about someone being there and there was a missing spot of ash. so i guess this was lockes doing? very convenient seeing that Locke would have let in whatever it is that the ash was to keep away...
Christian, Yemi, Alex,
Its fairly clear that the monster was Yemi (Mr. Eko's brother) and Alex (Ben's Daughter). After Eko was told he must confess his sins to be forgiven, by Yemi i.e. the smoke monster, he basically said he had no sins to confess and didn't ask for forgiveness. But when Ben goes to the monsters layer and he does ask to be forgiven Alex appears and tells Ben what he now needs to do. Knowing that the monster has already been two deceased characters then maybe Christian Shepard is also the smoke monster. Christian has already said he was not Jacob but could speak for him. Seems to me that the monster would have that kind of ability.
And the Monster is...
We all know that the smoke monster can take any shape or form. Knowing this and knowing there were two different John Locke's, the one walking around very much alive and the one in the box dead, that "alive Locke" could have been the monster. But in saying that is true then the smoke monster is just a form of the man we saw in the opening scene of the incident. And during that scene Jacob and the man (if they gave him a name i didn't catch it) were discussing the people coming to the island(which i believe that was the Black Rock). Jacob embraced the idea and the man was completely against it. Knowing that the man didn't want new people on the island and the smoke monster only killing new inhabitants also suggest that they are one in the …
Why did Ben kill Locke?
In "The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham," Ben saves Locke from killing himself only to kill him moments later. Why did he Ben save him, only to kill him again later? I have several theories. First, maybe Ben was also told John Locke needed to die. Second, maybe John would not let Ben tell Sun the truth about her husband being alive, as Locke promised he would tell Sun that his body washed up on shore so as to prevent her from coming back. Because of this, Ben needed to kill John. My final theory is that Ben didn't know Eloise was the person he needed to talk to in order to get back onto the island. Once he got this information from John, he allowed himself to kill Locke because he was threatened by John's "special" status.
Two Things
I have two things that bugged me/ left me confused, both of which happened in "What they Died for" One thing was what did Ben mean "That's when I realized it (the Monster) was summoning me."? I also felt annoyed with the rushed way Widmore explained how Jacob visited him. The end of Season 6 seemed way too rushed, I wish they would have done a few more episodes.
They're Coming
After Ben stabs Jacob and before the Man in Black kicks Jacob into the fire, Jacob says "They're Coming." Many people have decided that this means his body guards a.k.a. Bram and the other people. But, since they die almost right away once they enter the statue, I thought this was too anticlimactic. I think "They're" means his Candidates (Reyes, Ford, Jarrah, Shephard, Kwon) are coming back to the present. Jacob wouldn't threaten the Man in Black with some body guards, because he obviously wasn't afraid of them, but maybe he tried to scare him by saying his Candidates are coming.
The Time Hole
Okay, so in "LAX", the characters find themselves back in 2007. By "The End", when Ajira 316 leaves the island, it is still 2007. John Locke was killed in 2008 (technically the last person to die. So, would it be possible for the survivors to stop Ben from killing John Locke after they get off the island, thus hindering the MiB's abilities to kill Jacob, as well as Sayid, Jin, and Sun? I guess by the same logic, Frank and Kate could visit themselves. Weird.
The Cabin
Is anyone else still really confused by Jacob's Cabin? In "The Man Behind the Curtain", I suspect the man in Jacob's chair was Christian (I know it wasn't actually John Terry), which would mean the Man in Black was in the cabin and not Jacob. This could also explain why the Man in Black was absent for roughly 16 episodes between "Left Behind" and "The Shape of Things to Come". Perhaps the ash kept him stuck inside the Cabin This wouldn't explain why Ben didn't see or here him though. Also, when Hurley finds it in "The Beginning of the End", there are two people inside. The Cabin has moved. One person is in the rocking chair and the other person puts his eye up to the window. This time, Christian is visibly sitting in the rocking ch…
Sporcle
I found some fun sporcles about Lost.
See how many (out of 160) Lost characters you can name in 20 minutes: http://www.sporcle.com/games/AJAX22/lost_characters
See if you can name every Lost episode: http://www.sporcle.com/games/lostepisodes.php
It took me a while, but I can get all the lost episodes named. I can get to like 115 characters before time runs out, too.
Try it for yourself :)
Question
Hey, I'm wondering where you guys are posting your fan fiction because I have some fan fiction myself and I don't know where to post it.
Problem
I can't see comments on blogs anymore. I also can't leave comments on blogs anymore. Does anyone know why, and how to fix it? Send me a message if you do.
My Theory on Richard Malkin
There is still a lot of confusion surrounding the character, Richard Malkin, Claire's psychic. I believe he was, for the most part, a hoax. But I also think he truly believed Claire needed to raise the baby. If he was a hoax, he wouldn't have been so insistent on making sure Claire raised the baby. There was a deleted scene where he says a couple in Los Angeles payed him $16,000 to get her on the plane, but as it was deleted, it isn't canon. I believe the true reason for him telling Claire she needed to raise the baby is because Claire needed the baby to stay sane. Claire needed to keep the baby for her own safety. Once she loses the baby, she essentially goes crazy and starts mothering an animal skeleton. Basically, Richard wanted…
Moving Fan fiction
Addressing all my .5 fans: I'm moving my fanfiction off Lostpedia. I don't think this is a good place for fanfiction. I don't know where I'm going to put it yet. I have a copy on my own blog, but it's not very public.
Moral Question and Connection
In "Solitary, Sayid kills a soldiers and shoots himself in the leg in order to free someone he loved. In "Two for the Road," Michael kills two women and shoots himself in the arm to free his son. They basically did the same thing. The question is why do viewers (including myself) hate Michael for what he did, when we are easy to forget that Sayid had done the same thing (and several other things)? I'm not saying we should like Michael or hate Sayid, I just thought it brought up an interesting point.
Lost saddest moments
I'm wondering what you guys thing were the top saddest moments in the Lost series. For me, it goes: 1) The end of "The Candidate" from when Sayid grabs the bomb to when it shows MiB's face again (then my sorrow becomes blinding rage) 2) The end of "The End", where Jack died, Jack realizes he is dead while talkinig to his father, and the people in the church start hugging 3) Charlie's death, which includes him actually dying, when Desmond tells Hurley, and especially when Hurley tells Claire. 4) If you rewatch "The End", then any time a character "wakes up" in the flash sideways. 5) When Juliet falls down the hole in "The Incident". 6) When Locke finds out his kidney was stolen by his dad. 7) When Sun screams after the freighter explodes.

Lost Poll 10/14
Favorite Season finale?
I was wondering what all your favorite season finales were. Mine was probably "Though the Looking Glass," because every character gets an important role in the finale, and the way their story arcs play out during the episode was amazing (like when Locke gets visited by Walt and kills Naomi, when Charlie writes "Not Penny's Boat" on his hand, how Hurley saves the day down at the beach, etc.)
I need an idea
I have written the first episode of my fan fiction, and I have 46 named characters, most of which have complete back stories. The only thing that remains is a title for my fan fiction. Any ideas?
Fanfiction Update
I am almost done outlining my Lost series. I'm writing the first episode tomorrow, I think. For a very brief overview, it is a story about crash survivors (I'm wondering if the survivors could get there by other means, as the "crashed plane" has been used several times), but it has relevance within the same Lost universe created by Abrams and Darlton. I'm trying to make the series original, like not making it a plane crash and not having my characters be mirrors of the original Lost characters, but it has been tough.
On a side note, anyone who knows where to find a large, accurate map of the island, complete with stations, crash site, and temple, I could really use that map.
Emotional Moment Ruined.
Near the end of the Season 1 Finale, "Exodus," Walt is taken by the Others. I thought that, unlike the first time I watched it, I felt no sympathy for Michael. When he is screaming "WWWAAALLLTTT" All I could think was "here we go."
Editing Help
How do you get a blog to not be in a box in which you have to side scroll to see all the text? It's very annoying.
Discovery
This is for anyone who bought the complete series on DVD or Blue-Ray. The other day, I was looking through all of the stuff you get with the DVDs. On the lid, there is Rousseau's map of the island. I twisted it, and took the map off. Underneath, there was a golden disk. It looks really interesting. I don't know if any of you have found this yet, I got my box set on the first day it came out, and I just found it. Anyway, I don't plan to find out what's on it until I finish my rewatch.
Contest (sorta)
Okay, I'm running out of character ideas for my fan fiction. Anyone who comes up with the most original, complex character will have their character put into the fan fiction.
Another game Locke talks about
Everyone knows about the whole thing where Locke explains backgammon to Walt. But, there is another game Locke talks about. In "Deus ex Machina", Locke explains to a young boy at a convenience store the game of mousetrap. The way he describes it sounds exactly like what the MiB did in "The Candidate". Anyone agree with me?
An Overdue Question
I don't think anyone has asked this, but while watching "Every Man for Himself" again, I have come up with a question. Why are Jack, Kate, and Sawyer surprised to be on a new island. They had to be taken there by boat at some point. They were blindfolded, but someone could tell if they were in a boat without seeing it. My only explanation would be they were knocked out after Michael left and carried to Hydra Island.
Amazing Lost Tribute
I found this amazing Lost tribute while on Youtube. It was written between "What They Died for" and "The End", and is playing Michael Giacchino's "There's no Place Like Home" composition in the background. It's quite the tear-jerker.
"Lost: Moving On" Episode 2 "Firewood"
“Okay,” Carter begins, standing on the metal box, above the heads of the surrounding crowd of worried faces, “Now that we're all awake, we can being deciding what to do. I'll start by telling you all that I am Carter Ward, the pilot of the plane. We have been here a few hours, and the problem is we have no manifest, no black box, no engine, no radio, and it seemed to me when I got down here that some of the luggage was missing. Everyone's luggage accounted for?”
There is a small murmuring through the crowd.
“Okay,” Carter continues, “It also seemed there were passengers missing. Whatever happened to them, must have happened to their luggage. I know most of you have cell phones. I know, we won't get any reception out here, but maybe we …
"Lost: Moving On" Episode 1 "The Pilot"
A man awakens from a deep sleep. He is buckled into a commercial airplane. He doesn't here there humming of the engine, or the breeze usually created by the plane's air conditioning. Light shines in from the windows that weren't shut. The man, brushing a few strand of blond hair from his forehead, leans over and pulls the cover away from his window, revealing through the two panes of glass a tropical environment
'What the hell?' thinks the man, unbuckling himself and walking forward. He bolts forward and sees that one of the emergency exit doors is already open, but he doesn't see anyone outside. He feels the warm air of the tropical environment, while also making sure what he saw in the window was not just some strange illusion. He …
Aus/NZ release for the Complete Collection
Thank god! I never thought that it would happen, but it's coming out alongside the S6 DVD (which I've ordered from Amazon). 20th of October. Thank god. Thank god(x20,000,000)! I've been searching it up on Google for the last three weeks straight.
Thinking far too linearly
This FST/OT thing is really getting frustrating. It's great as a storytelling device, but it seems to have absolutely baffled most of the people posting on here. They have assumed major things about the position of FST relative to OT. To me it seems clear that they are definitely not parallel. Easy way to see this - what year is it in OT and what year in FST? They are NOT parallel. We have spent the last few series being taught Lost's time travel rules and then when we see them implemented, well, most people seemed to miss it. Faraday's rats had their conciousness transported forwards in time by being exposed to high levels of EM at a specific frequency; Desmond had the same thing done to him by Widmore and found himself in FST. This impli…
What did Charlotte say to jin?
Ok. So in the most recent episode "This place is death" or something like that what doe Charlotte say to jin right before she says "Don't let her come back here. This place is death.". We are supposed to think that she was talking about sun, but i dont think she actually was. What is it that she said? Can someone translate for me? was it maybe even in latin? It kinda sounded like Latin. Maybe not though.
Is fruit the key to Lost?
Ok. So maybe not the "key" to the secrets, but i think that it is probably important. My mom has this huge orange theory that there is something special about oranges. She screams and gets all excited every time she sees someone eating an orange or drinking orange juice. And I always laugh at her, but i think that she MAY just be onto something. There is far too much of oranges and orange juice used on this show for it to just be merely coincidence. If someone has any insight into this please let me know.
Also. Does fruit have some sort of symbolism in cultures or something? Im especially referring to John Locke. One of the first times that we see him on the show he has an orange peel in his mouth cuz he's eating an orange. This is very rec…
Hurley and Dogs?
So maybe this ijust me looking way too hard for things, but it seems too consistent to not be something. We all remember the i heart shi-tzus shirt that Hurley bought at that gas station. and now Sawer lends hurley a sweatshirt with a bull dog on it. Is this something or just coincidence? Any theories? Maybe the actor just likes dogs or something. haha
Hinting Kate is not a candidate and Kwon refers to Jin not Sun
In the episode, The Substitute, we find out that a list of candidates has been kept on the wall in the cave. Kate's name is missing so that should lead us to believe she wasn't a candidate. After watching this I went back to LA X, Part 2 and watched the scene where Dogen breaks open the ankh and finds the piece of paper. I think most of us assume this is one of Jacob's lists which includes the names of the candidates. Dogen then asks them their names and after those whose names were on the wall in the cave said their names (Jack, Hurley, Sayid) they camera switches to Dogen reacting at their names. This also happens for Jin which leads me to believe his name was on the list. After Kate says her name however the camera switches right to Jac…
Miles has powers because...
I think he has powers because although what happened, happened, he was never supposed to live. Informing Chang about the purge ultimately did change the future, as much as daniel says that its not possible. what we have seen from the Losties/Freighter POV, what happened did happen, but to the past, the future is very much still changable (but for this to happen with out being a chicken or the egg thing, chang cant find out that miles is his son).
Miles, although very much alive, could be seen as caught between both worlds, maybe only mentally. He is able to hear the dead because he should be dead.
in a rush but maybe i can explain it more later on.
Jacob and John
I know its a reach because i know that it has no merit in terms of what it means to the story of Jacob, but with a lot of time on our hands i wanted to know what you guys thought about this.
The Bernoulli's: Jakob (or Jacob) and Johann (or John)
Found this after I started Wiki-ing
Of Jacob Bernoulli: Bernoulli chose a figure of a logarithmic spiral and the motto Eadem mutata resurgo ("Changed and yet the same, I rise again") for his gravestone; the spiral executed by the stonemasons was, however, an Archimedean spiral. [1] “[Jacques Bernoulli] wrote that the logarithmic spiral ‘may be used as a symbol, either of fortitude and constancy in adversity, or of the human body, which after all its changes, even after death, will be restored to its exa…
what I want to know more than anything
What would have happened, if a) the helicopter with the O6 was within the island's radius, and b) Locke had moved the island, instead of Ben turning the wheel???
Wouldn't whatever that is be what was "supposed to" happen?
what's missing still
In The Beginning of the End Eloise says "for the first time in a long time, I don't know what is going to happen next." This is a MAJOR and CRUCIAL part of the story that we don't know yet either. When she slaps Charles is where we left off...
I'm guessing he went right into the hospital and swiped Desmond, but where did she go? What about flight 316 - did it go off radar? Is anyone looking for them?
What the heck happens in the OT after flight 316??? This will likely be the storyline we'll be wrapping up with in the end and I can't wait! :)
survey about the Other Others
Remember the famous outrigger chase?
We know Boat 1 has Sawyer, Locke, Faraday, Charlotte, Miles, and Juliet and Boat 2 appears to have at least 3 passengers (affectionately called the Other Others). Juliet, in boat 1 shoots and apparently hits someone... then FLASH! Son of a bitch!
Now here we are pre-epi 15 ... hoping to find out eventually what happened! What I'm posing today is a survey.
- Who could be the Other Others in boat 2?
- why did they start shooting at boat 1? and
- who got shot?
Who are the passengers in Boat 2... my nominees are:
- Jack, Hurley, Kate, and Sawyer (either Kate or Sawyer is lying down cuz they are injured)
- Ben, Miles, and Richard
Why did they start shooting? my nominees are:
- Jack - not knowing it was the real Locke
- Sawyer - i…
failsafe
I can't help thinking that desmond turning the failsafe key wasn't the beginning or the end of something. It was so similar to when the wheel got turned and so I think those events are related to to the time loop. I have all these bits of the puzzle in my head but can't suss it all out. Can you help?
Kelvin said turning the key would make it all go away
Everyone on the Pala dock saw the flash, heard the painful noises , etc... may have time travelled
Charlie seemed off somehow right afterwards
Locke couldn't talk but started on a mission of sorts after "talking" with the island in his dreams
Desmond travelled in time to the past and began seeing the future
Eko got killed by smokey soon after
Ben moved the island
Locke stopped the time travel

dead people seen on island - bugging me!
Last night, in the rewatch of Sundown, the pop-up was talking about being able to dead people on the island... it mentioned that Jack and Claire saw their dad, Ben saw his mom, and Hurley saw his "imaginary friend" Dave.
That got me thinking... why would this tidbit have been included?
Could Dave have been a real person who Hurley once knew but now (for some reason) doesn't remember knowing? Could Dave have been a "ghost" (ala visits to Hurley from Charlie, Eko, Jacob, etc.)?
Could Dave have been part of MIB? Who spoke first, Dave or Hurley? Dave did try to get Hurley to jump off the cliff, so I guess it's possible Dave was MIB trying to tempt Hurley. However, it didn't work because Libby stopped him from jumping. Was Libby's interruptio…
a question on motives
In light of newly revealed Season 6 information, I've revisited the Dreams and visions on the island. Fascinating new read BTW.
I'm struck wondering about Richard's (and therefore Jacob's) motives.
What on earth were Richard's motives when he "steered" both Ben and later Locke (by sharing Sawyer's file in The Brig) to kill their fathers. I mean, if Richard was working as Jacob's "advisor" then what motive could he have for this? Doesn't seem likely for Jacob to approve of this kind of behavior. Killing your father seems more up The Other Guy's alley.
Granted I'm inferring that Richard "steered" Ben, but it seems likely given that's his job AND that's how it happened with Locke. That's some sound logic, no?
I can't seem to get a handle on…
a question about Across the Sea
When Jacob was talking to Mother on the beach, and she asked him if he would stay with her, he said "yes. for a while." Why for a while?
Any ideas?
What a Journey
What's not to love about that epi? My favorite parts were:
- Desmond. Period.
- Ben as DrLinus gets his ass whooped ... again
- Danielle X in a dress wearing lipstick and heels?! Classic.
- Sawyer, Kate, Hurley and Jack still mourning and looking out to sea.
- Brave Kate stands up for Sun and Jin.
- We're going to have to kill Locke. - Kate I know. - Jack
- Terry O'Quinn deserves an Emmy. Period.
- Richard gets blasted!
- Can I get you some lemonade? - Ben
- Widmore changed the rules by killing Ben's dauthter so Widmore goes down! (aha! a rule)
- You became a mother. It's just a line of chalk on a wall, Kate. - Jacob (aha! another rule)
- Our hero steps up and drinks the Kool-aid.
- Jack X tells Locke X not to mistake coincidence for fate and now LockeX is READY to let go
- We're …
Terry O'Quinn is a badass!
One of my favorite scenes was when he walked so damn confidently towards the Ajira while those two pathetic "guards" were yelling and firing at him. He didn't bat an eye, just strode right up to that guy and snapped his neck!
That was hot!
Superficial or Super-perceptive??
Somewhere in this crazy time-line we call LOST, our friend Jack began waxing his chest!
Maybe it's a clue of some kind? Maybe someone could pinpoint when it started??
Maybe it means nothing. Either way ... I don't like it.
