Theories

A bamboo grove stood close to the Heart of the Island.

Thousands of years before the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, Jacob and his brother were brought to the bamboo grove by their adoptive Mother. ("Across the Sea")

Jack wakes up in "Pilot, Part 1".

After the crash of Oceanic Flight 815, Jack woke up in the grove and noticed that Vincent was watching him. ("Pilot, Part 1")

Four years later, the Man in Black brought Jack, Hurley, Kate, Sawyer, Ben, and Desmond to the bamboo grove; he proceeded with Jack and Desmond while the rest stayed behind. ("The End")

After Desmond pulled the plug from the source and the Island started to sink, Ben was trapped by a falling tree within the bamboo grove; he was later freed.

Jack came back to the bamboo grove after he had been stabbed by the Man in Black; he then lay down where he woke up four years before and he slowly died with Vincent by his side.
