Ana Lucia Cortez was pregnant with a child some time before boarding Oceanic Flight 815. The father is presumed to be her former boyfriend/husband Danny. During her time as a police officer, Ana Lucia was shot in the chest several times by Jason McCormack, a burglar, causing her to lose her child. The loss of her child was extremely hard on Ana Lucia. Danny left her, she was discharged from the police force and entered therapy. However, just days after she returned to the force, she tracked down Jason McCormack and shot him in revenge for what he did to her. ("Collision")
